Surgery next week!

It feels like I’ve been waiting forever. 🫠 Since July. I’m scheduled for a 4-hr robotic assisted repair (with hysterectomy). I’m not looking forward to the recovery, but I can’t wait to get everything OUT of my v canal.

Many thank to those in this group who have gone before me and posted helpful info to help me prepare. Wish me luck!

Repair surgery recovery?

If you’ve had repair surgery, how long did your recovery take?

I’m having prolapse repair surgery with hysterectomy* soon. I’ve read up a lot on what to expect from hysto recovery, but I’m assuming that having the prolapse repair may complicate/lengthen recovery. Just trying to get an idea of what’s typical so I can prepare myself.

Thanks!

*supracervical hysto with sacrocolpopexy and perrineoraphy, but happy to hear responses from any kind of repair

Lap sugery: which undies?

Trying to figure out which of the zillion granny/period/postpartum panty options will work best after my surgery.

If you had laparoscopic incisions, what did you use that didn’t bother your abdomen/wounds?

Surgery concerns?

I’m having an abdominal surgery in several weeks and trying to think through what I might need to adjust or plan for in relation to my PsA. For example, needing to schedule my biologic doses so they don’t interfere with healing, or whether the surgeon is ok with my taking steroids if surgery kicks off a flare.

What am I forgetting? What kinds of things have you all needed to consider re: surgery?

Repair surgery vs c-section?

People who have had both, can you tell me how they compare for pain/recovery?

I’m having a robot/lap supracervical hysterectomy and mesh sacrocolpopexy. Love to hear from anyone who had any kind of repair, though.

Best shampoo for warm gray hair

I’m looking for what may be a unicorn. I have warm level 7 dark blond hair, naturally. It’s turning gray/white, which I love, and I know there are purple shampoos that will brighten/cool grays.

I’m kind of after the opposite—my grays are a lot cooler than my original color and they kind of clash. I love that I’m going gray and don’t want to cover them. But is there a shampoo that might warm them up a little? Or am I looking at a toner situation here?

I have a surgery date!

Having a laparoscopic supracervical hysterectomy/salpingectomy, and sacralcolpopexy (mesh strips) to repair uterine and bladder prolapse. He also said he would likely do a perineorhaphy to support those tissues (no current damage).

So thrilled to finally have my prolapse repairs officially scheduled. Would love to hear from anyone who’s had a sacralcolpopexy, as well.

Anyone else have tight pelvic floor?

Urogyn diagnosed hypertrophic pelvic floor and I have a referral to PT, but they can’t get me in until December. There are lots of online suggestions for exercises for tightening up those muscles, but not the opposite. 😩

I’m hoping maybe one of you can point me in the right direction so I can get started on my own.

ETA: hypertonic, not hypertrophic

What the..?

I was having some GSM symptoms, so I started estrogen cream a couple of months ago. It’s been working! Way less dry and itchy. WHYYY, now, is my right labia minora disappearing?! The bottom of it just resorbed? Like—ma’am, get it together down there! 😩😄 What the heck?

Anyone have a timeline for the lips to return to normal?

Periods with prolapse

Uuugh, having cramps when your uterus is in the wrong place sucks. It’s like it concentrates the cramping into a smaller area, and they’re making me nauseous. I can’t use tampons with this thing, either so I’m walking around with a pad like when I was a kid and finding the whole experience really exasperating.

Hoping I can get my repair scheduled soon.

Did you have to fight for a hysterectomy?

I have a stage 2 prolapse that developed abruptly a month ago and am seeing a surgeon on Friday. I’m really hoping for a hysterectomy as this is affecting both my physical comfort and my sex life. But I’m worried the doc is going to want to push me toward more conservative treatment.

I’d love to hear your experiences, esp if you had a stage 2 uterine prolapse. Do I need to be worried?

TIA

ETA: for reference, I’m 49 and nearing the end of perimenopause. I also have a minor cystocele.

Appointment anxiety

I’m dealing with a sudden uterine prolapse (not quite stage 3 but very close) and have an appt for surgical consult this Friday. I want/need a hysterectomy, and logic tells me the surgeon will be happy to agree.

BUT I’m freaked out bc when I went to see a gyn about this a few weeks ago, she couldnt see the prolapse. I can only assume she pushed it back up when inserting the speculum—I can touch it, feel around all sides of it, can locate my cervix, etc., all just about 1 cm inside the vaginal opening. The fact that she couldn’t see it made me feel like I was losing my mind!

Anyway, now I’m freaked out that the surgeon also somehow won’t be able to see something that should be plain as day. That sounds stupid when I write it out. But here we are.

Can anyone reassure me re: how a surgeon usually approaches a physical exam? Any chance he’ll actually approach things manually first, before also accidentally shoving it back up? 😬 I’m so nervous!

Fire Stick stuck

I was trying to load up an Amazon/Paramount+ show today and got this screen. Paramount shows were misbehaving on Vidangel phone app, as well, bc the Amazon Prime TV app wanted me to agree to some new nonsense. Once I did, Paramount shows worked fine on the Vidangel phone app.

HOWEVER, I can’t back out of this screen on the Vidangel Fire Stick app. I’ve tried all the usual buttons and also tried turning off the power to the Fire Stick and TV for several minutes. That usually resets the stick and allows me to start fresh in the Vidangel app, but not this time. When I open the TV input for the FireStick, I don’t even get the stick’s Home screen. I get this screen.

Ideas? Help?

Anyone develop astigmatism?

I’ve been watching for uveitis (all clear) but was very surprised when I went for my checkup this year that I now have astigmatism at age 49. So weird!

And luckily no big deal, really. But apparently it’s atypical to develop it since it’s usually congenital. Just curious whether there’s a connection to PsA for anyone else.

THANK YOU to whomever changed the play/rwd/ffwd controls

We were really struggling to see what was selected on the screen after the last update. New one is much appreciated!

Uterine prolapse

Pretty sure I’ve just discovered this is what’s going on with me. Will be seeing the doc soon, but can anyone point me to pelvic floor exercises that were helpful for them? I’m somewhat distressed this is going on at 48 yo.

TIA.

Autumn? Spring??

NMIP

I feel like I’m really struggling to figure out my season. I think I’m neutral, leaning a touch warm. I get tons of compliments when I wear warmer brights—oranges, corals, yellows leaning more orange than green. I need contrast, so pastels make me look flat. Warmer pink makeup colors are the best on me. Cooler berries make me look unwell. I’m going fairly gray in front, but my natural color (last pic) is a neutral light brown.

I wear a lot of muted colors, but that came about mostly through feeling fat and trying to hide.

No palette for Autumn or Spring seems quite right. Any thoughts?
