Will we ever get another event update that actually tops this one?

Fischmas 2 was one of the best event updates for multiple reasons.

Relic enchants were good (mostly peppermint and santa) the final rod you get was decent at the time.

The area was physically appealing to look at and the music was nice and relaxing which made it fun to fish in the area then we cant forget about the wish as well.

But the event updates after this just didn't hit the same feel this did im hoping they'll be able to make Fischmas 3 just as good as 2 was

Question

So I was doing a hardmode file and at one point I had unequipped all my cards when fighting the ancients and my dumb ass forgot to put hardmode back on. So due to this blunder im restarting my hardmode run but since I already got chapter 1, 2 and 3 hardmode badges.

My question is do I have to have hardmode on the whole time or do I only need to equip it when I get to chapter 4?
