Income

I love working at the PDs, but the salary isn’t sustainable now. Long story short, I have to start paying my loans and I understand we have LRAP and PSLF but the problem is I have no money to put towards replaying my loan. I have a mortgage, cc bills, and kids. Even though I love working at the PDs I think it’s time for me to leave.

Condescending prosecutors

How do you guys deal with prosecutors that are condescending pieces of shits. I obviously know some of the things Im requesting are probably not going to be granted by the State, yet, my job is to ask. Today, I got an email from an older prosecutor that was extremely unprofessional. He said something along the lines of “oh the drinking after driving defense! I’ve heard that one before and took it to trial and won!” He then told me how my client would be impeached by his priors ( he only has one prior DUI). Instead of giving me a passive aggressive answer he could’ve just said no to my request. I had already set realistic expectations for the client. Then, another one said something like “oh the reason we are making this plea offer is because we don’t think the MIW is viable not because the state is being lenient on gun possession charges and in case you didn’t know client completed probation and not sure if you’re familiar with restoration rights.” I had not looked at that case is set for this Friday but if I noticed that issue when I staffed the case, I obviously would’ve brought it up to the state. The wording of both those emails got under my skin. I’ve been practicing for two years and I suffer from imposter syndrome from time to time, but I get results and I know I’m not an idiot. However, those emails made me feel like the entire prosecution office thinks that I don’t know my head from my ass.

Tantrum help

Today, my four year-old and I went to a dinner with my coworkers at a brewery. She made a friend with a kid from a different table. When it was time to leave. I told her that we were leaving. I gave her a warning. Then she didn’t wanna leave. She started running around the tables. I was trying not to chase her, but I was trying to grab her when I finally did grab her. She was trying to kick me yelling. I obviously picked her up Bear hug style and then she kept telling people that she was scared of me, and then I was choking her we get out of the restaurant. She tells me she wants to walk. I let her walk. Then she starts running like almost towards the street. So I run after her. I grab her now we’re wrestling on the floor. I’m trying to pick her up. She doesn’t wanna be picked up and grab her by her dress and I pick her up and I told her like she can’t run, cause she’s gonna get ran over. Then I just keep walking her to the car. She’s asking to get down. I tell her I’m not letting her down because I already gave her a chance to walk and she ran to the street. Finally get her in the car. Everything is normal. We get home, but I just don’t know what to do anymore. The fact that she said that I was hurting her that she was scared of me that I choked her. I don’t know where she was getting any of this from, and I’m just tired.
