Thumbnail vs. actual

We need a flair for "egregious vine listings". Now I know that the thumbnails are often a variant of what is actually offered. But the difference between these two was SO DISAPPOINTING.

(Photo 1 = thumbnail; photo 2= actual offering after clicking See Details)

I am sure my fellow Augtober Halloween enthusiasts will agree.

Also, whoever nabbed the Evergreen Halloween 3 Witches, congratulations 😭

Help with ID + care- agave

Hi all,

I have a care/repotting and identity question!

So I’ve had these since 2021. My plant app says both are Century Agaves but I wanted to confirm since they look like 2 different plants?

I got them from a neighbor and threw them in a pot outside (in Texas) and have never cared for them in any way except to bring inside in the winter. I never water, never feed, never do anything. They’ve just hung out happily, and eventually had pups that burst through the bottom of the pot.

Now I don’t know what to do. I’d like to repot and let them live their best lives, but after 5 years I worry it’ll shock them to death. They’re also SO spiky I risk injury handling the pot. Each winter, bringing them inside gets harder because of the spikes. I’m afraid I’ll poke out an eye.

Thoughts, ID confirmation, repotting advice, and any other recommendations are greatly appreciated!

Edited for typos

Opting out of AI - will it hurt my chances?

Hi recruiters,
For the first time today, I was offered an opportunity to opt out of AI review of my resume.

I appreciate that this option is available, but I worry it will end up with my resume being disregarded. The result is that my "profile relevancy score" will show as "not available" in their ATS.

Question to recruiters: If you saw "not available" for some candidates, would you disregard their applications or would still you read them?

Full text on the application:
This employer may use an artificial intelligence algorithm to provide an initial comparison of an applicant's education, experience, and skills against the education, experience and skill requirements in the job description. This analysis produces a Profile Relevancy score, which is intended to be one of many factors that a potential employer will review in making its interview decisions; there are no cut off scores and all applications are visible to employers. Read more about how these tools collect, store, and retain information and the results of the most recent impartial evaluations. The Profile Relevancy score for applicants who opt out will be listed as "Not Available."

Checkbox: I want to opt out from having my resume reviewed by artificial intelligence as part of the application process.

Rockport loafers

I’m silver so I rarely get big scores and even more rarely do I ever see anything from “real” brands. I’m excited I got to nab these! Hope they fit!

Bonus that the value is lower than the sale price, for taxes :)

80-100 calls per day?

Hi recruiters,

I have some HR experience and I’m looking at internships that will expand my knowledge and help me in my career.

I found this internship for a recruiter (location identifying info removed for my privacy). I was surprised to see the expectation of 80-100 calls per day? How would you get any other work done?

I’m curious if this is normal, or if this company is basically hiring a call center rep and calling it an internship.
Thanks for your insight!

HR job listings without comp [TX]

This is kind of a vent but also serious question about the method behind the madness, if you are able to read that far lol.

I’m one of the millions laid off everywhere. I was just getting started in HR, after decades of other ops management roles. Then I was laid off after 6 months in the new role (several years at the company).

I don’t have enough titled HR experience to be an HR generalist or manager, so I’m looking for roles as an assistant or coordinator. Well, it’s humbling to say the least.

Anyway. Job listings for HR roles often don’t list the compensation. Since I know I’ll be taking a pay cut anyway, I’m searching for roles that will be in a reasonable range for my limited experience, but I can’t go too low. I have a family to support.

As HR pros, I’m seriously asking: why bother listing a job in 2026 without a comp range? Even worse, why ask the applicant their desired comp when there is zero indication of the range? Like what is the strategy here?

I was applying for coordinator somewhere, and the desired comp is one of the first questions on the app. I just took a shot in the dark and gave my desired comp as $70k, close to what I was making before. How do I know if they wanted to pay $15/hour and saw my desired comp and immediately trashed my application?

The last thing I want to do is waste time applying for a job that’s going to pay nothing.

I’m just so frustrated.

Help! Is it fungus? Salvageable?

I am the second owner and repotting this guy. Not sure what the care routine was before I adopted him.
I would love to keep him as he’s about 3 feet tall and lovely— but this worries me. I am not sure if it’s a fungus or what.
Any insight would be appreciated!!

Should I turn these props upside down?

Long time lurker first time poster!

I have these props and they are starting to show little baby roots! But the roots are pointing upward.

Especially the leaves positioned at 7 o’clock and 8 o’clock.

Should I flip them over to help the roots get into the soil, or just leave them? I am fighting my instinct to helicopter parent over here.

Any advice appreciated!! These are in a south facing window that gets dappled indirect sunlight and are about a week to ten days old.
