ACCA or CA

Guys, I’m a little confused and would appreciate some guidance.

I recently graduated from university and am currently undecided between pursuing CA or ACCA.

For ACCA, I only have 3 exams left to qualify due to exemptions. For CA, I would need to clear 7 exams and complete my articleship. I have already been inducted into a Big 4 firm as a CA trainee and have recently started my articleship.

The issue is that I’m still unsure whether I should continue on the CA path or switch my focus to ACCA instead. My main concerns are career prospects, long-term growth, global opportunities, and whether the additional time and effort required for CA is worth it.

Has anyone been in a similar situation or made a similar decision? Any advice or insights would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

SBL exam guidance

Hey guys,

I’m planning to attempt SBL in the September sitting and wanted to know whether I still have enough time to prepare for it.

I’m currently doing my articleship and work from 9 to 5. I also go to the gym, which takes around 1.5 hours of my day, so my study time is somewhat limited. Given this schedule, do you think I have enough time to prepare properly for the September attempt?

Also, which instructor would you recommend for SBL? I’d really appreciate recommendations based on your personal experience, especially if you had a good experience with a particular instructor.

One thing to keep in mind is that this will be my first ACCA exam, as all my previous papers were exempted. So I’m looking for an instructor who is particularly good at helping students understand the ACCA exam approach and technique.

Thank you!

ACCA 2027 Changes – Should I Claim My Exemptions Now or Wait Until the New One-Optional-Paper Rule?

ACCA 2027 Changes – Should I Claim My Exemptions Now or Wait Until the New One-Optional-Paper Rule?

Hi everyone,

I have a question regarding the ACCA qualification changes coming in September 2027, where only one Strategic Professional optional paper will be required instead of two.

My situation is that I am eligible for exemptions and am wondering whether I should claim them now or wait until the new structure comes into effect.

My current plan is:

  1. Claim my exemptions now
  2. Sit SBL and one optional paper before September 2027
  3. Leave SBR until after September 2027

If I do this, would I only need that one optional paper and then become an affiliate once the new rules take effect? Or would I still be required to complete two optional papers because I claimed my exemptions under the current structure?

Alternatively, would it be better to wait and claim my exemptions after the new qualification structure is introduced?

Has anyone seen any ACCA guidance on how exemptions and partially completed Strategic Professional papers will transition to the new qualification?

Thanks in advance!

Best ACCA Advanced Paper to pair with CA Articleship?

Hey everyone,

I just graduated from university, claimed my ACCA exemptions, and I'm starting at the Strategic Professional level. At the same time, I've just started my CA articleship, so my schedule is about to get pretty hectic.

Since I'll be working full-time and just want to clear these papers efficiently to get the ACCA certificate, I need some realistic advice:

  1. Which paper should I take first? Given the heavy workload of articleship, which Strategic Professional paper is the most manageable to pair with it? (Note: I'm working in Assurance dept if that helps).
  2. Tutor recommendations? Who are the best online tutors or academies for the paper you're recommending?
  3. Study time? Realistically, how many hours a week or months of preparation will I need to pull this off while working full-time?

Would love to hear from anyone who balanced ACCA with articleship. Thanks in advance!

SBR tutor recommendation

Hey so i wanted to add this post in ACCA community but it keeps getting removed, can you let me know why:

Hi everyone,

I’m planning to take SBR this September and I’m a bit confused about which instructor to choose. I’ve heard good things about both Sir Mustafa Mirchawala and VIFHE, so I’m finding it difficult to decide.

I’ve just claimed my exemptions, so this will be my first ACCA exam. Because of that, I want to make sure I choose an instructor who can help me build a strong understanding of the subject and prepare effectively for the exam.

Could those of you who have taken SBR recently, especially in the June attempt, share your experience and recommend an instructor? I’ve heard that the June attempt was quite challenging, so I’d really appreciate feedback on which instructor prepared you well for the exam.

Also, if there are any other instructors you would recommend, please let me know.
