How long has this been a thing?? I swear I remember maple syrup being all green.

Been having issues lately and not sure what the culprit is. The maple syrup I’ve been having is “dark” (cheaper) and I wonder if it has more fructan than higher end stuff. I probably don’t have much more than a tbsp…

Cube focusinging on artifact/enchantment creatures, cards with multiple types, delirium etc?

I love delirium, creature and cards with multiple types. Natures natures claim becomes premium removal. Liquimetal torque becomes interesting. Metal craft and constellation.

I’ve thought about this a lot but never put much effort into putting it together because I don’t think I could ever get a pod together. I might build it in theory because it definitely gets the gears turning.

Thoughts? Anyone seen a cube like this before?

Why is this solar panel not compatible?

I knew nothing about about Ring before today but my girlfriend asked me to install a solar panel for her battery doorbell pro. Eventually I realized it was incompatible.

The product page says that it is compatible!

It looks like the only option for her doorbell are those panels that go behind the unit. But that wouldn’t work for her because the doorbell is in a place that gets no sunlight. It’s under an awning.

Any clarification you could provide would be helpful. Idk if I can rest easy until I understand this lol.

Ok Gang, what are we listening to today?

I work at an office and I listen to my IEMs most of the day. Each day I grab different sets from my collection to keep the rotation fresh. Today I have my TSMR Armor and trusty S12 pro.

What are you listening to? Post a pic! 🎶

BTR17: How Many EQ profiles can I store? And are they easy to import?

Hello,

I’m interested in the BTR17 as a replacement/sidegrade for my Qudelix 5k. I want the volume knob, better wireless performance, longer battery life.

I have a growing collection of IEMs, each one of which has 0-3 EQs associated with them.

I have an iPhone and a Windows laptop. I understand there is a web app that I can use to load EQ text files onto the device. From searches I don’t know how if the Control app works on iOS and even if it does it probably can’t import EQs.

So yeah. Would I be able to import my EQs easily and how many can I store? I can’t seem to find the answer in my searches.

Many thanks!

Got anything that's similar to this record in tactility and microdetail? Ben Frost - By the Throat is one of the only records I know that I can "touch" in a way. I can feel its texture on my skin.

Idea: Pinned Thread Dedicated to Music Suggestions and Recommendation

Music is basically the main point of these things. Let’s share some damn music. If you post about music it gets taken down for being not IEM related enough. If we had a sticky we could share music and what we’re listening on.

Thanks 🙏

My Performer 7 got refunded due to being late. Now have $190 to spend on a new IEM. What should I buy?

I’m pretty sure the P7 is still gonna arrive. Thanks AliExpress!

New set doesn’t have to be <$190, I’m willing to spend a bit extra, maybe up to $100 more. If I think it’s worth it.

I’m looking at the TSMR Armor as a basshead set but would have to spend another $50 or so, and I’m worried about the ear gain. It’s not a big deal tho I’ll just EQ it if need be. Then there’s the Astralis as a sub bass focused set with relaxed treble, but I already have 3 planars (ET142, Arnar, S12 Pro).

I’m kind of a treble-sensitive princess. I’m not a fan of the meta 3k ear gain peak, I much prefer my ear gain to peak at 2.4kHz ideally, and I’m rather sensitive to 4-5kHz. I fucking love bass, mid bass and also sub bass.

I want to make an informed decision. What am I forgetting?

This will be my last mid fi set for some time. I’d like to start saving for something more serious.

Thanks

Found this really cool EQ tool. Helps make your IEM's treble more neutral.

It's called "SoundEQ" I really like it and it changed the way I think about tuning and taught me about my own HRTF. So I want to shout about it from the mountain tops. I'm curious what kind of results you guys might get from it.

All you do is set a high but comfortable volume level then go through the tones, answering if the variable tone is louder, quieter, or the same volume as the reference tone. It spits out an EQ that should tune your IEM to truly neutral for your ears. Basically your own personal JM-1.

By doing this for all my IEMs I learned that I prefer a lower frequency ear gain than “meta” JM-1, peaking at 2.4k instead of 3k, and that I’m sensitive in the region from 4-5k.

I also purchased a few sets that match this tuning style, sets I wouldn’t have considered before: KBEAR K08 Mirage, Simgot ET142 (black and red nozzles), and the Harmonic Empire Cai Wenji. I got the Simgot ET142, and while tip rolling was a battle, I am loving the tuning of the short red nozzles.

Using FR graph fo search squiglink?

Why isn’t this a thing? I want to be able to upload an FR graph and see which IEMs match up the best.

(if you know any IEMs with ear gain that peaks 2.3-2.5 kHz, then scoops out 4-5k, and has a substantial bass boost, let a brother know!)

Has anyone ever made their own target and if so how did they do it?

Please be as technical as you’d like. I’m currently doing some fairly wacky experiments to try to derive my own target. How did you do it?

Jumped on the hype train - Canpur Silver Flash

Shout out MusicTeck for shipping these out to Hawaii so fast. Ordered on Thursday and they showed up Monday, way ahead of schedule.

My biggest concern was the fitment, but was happy to find out that these conformed well to my ears and the fit is nice deep and stable. The stock large tip works great out of the box. I also bought a silver cable as I knew from reviews the stock cable was crap.

Sound is lovely, pretty much what I expected, lovely bass and mids, treble just slightly bright but less offensive than I was expecting. Only spun a few songs so far so my brain hasn’t even burned in yet but I was excited to show them off.

My first starter sets were single DD (Z300, Cadenza, EW200) and after that I only used hybrids and planars so I’m happy to own such a cool set and have a more premium single DD. Especially when they fit so nicely.

Edit - Some listening tests:

Yussef Dayes Trio - Yesterday Princess: I had a moment. Really phenomenal presentation. I might have to tame 8k a bit with EQ.

Archspire - Liminal Cypher. Yeah definitely a little hot in treble. Maybe I can tame with tips. Pretty muddled as well, but this band is so fast that IME only planars can resolve the wall of sound.

Run the Jewels - Oh My Darling Don't Cry: MEATY bass, sounds damn good. Vocals are recessed.

Geese - Getting Killed: Really like the dynamism. Nice stage and separation, feels super alive and emotional. When the song quieted down after the halfway point I got chills.

Darko - Red Samurai: This sounds fucking brutal. Hell yes. So easy for this stuff to sound either muddy or thin. Not here.

Nick Drake - Place to Be: So rich and full and alive.

High Halls- Christopher Larkin: Just lovely.

Soudiere and DJ Smokey - Proceed With Caution: Can really feel the bass control and presentation here. So tight and punchy. Wowee

Paul Simon - She Moves On: I've heard better separation on these drums with my planars but the bass guitar, no surprise, sounding good.

Shpongle - Once Upon the Sea of Blissfull Awareness: This is one of my favorite songs and is also a cool test track because of the super heavy bassline and the sumptuous female vocals. The production is so god tier that it never sound bad, but it can always sound better. The bassline sounds absolutely killer and the subtle details really stand out thanks to that hot treble. Good separation as the song gets busy at the end. A tad sharp for me, but a great listen.

Apparently I'm a basshead. Sometimes.

I have been enjoying my IEM collection for a while, but I've not been listening to bassy genres lately. Yesterday I plugged my tekkusai lucid into my Legion laptop 3.5 port and was listening to some rap. I couldn't believe how crazy the bass was. For a second I thought that it was just that I hadn't been listening to bassy genres. But that just didn't make sense so I plugged in a DAC and there goes the bass. Turns out there's a big output impedance on the Legion DAC, giving me an big bass boost. I went into EQ and gave the Lucid a 4 DB bass boost so I could be more in control of the sound. Then I auto-EQed to TSMR armor DUU.

I spend whole days listening to singer songwriter alt rock etc and those days I don't care about bass quantity. Long sessions with the Pure or the Explorers and all was well. But when I did try to play rap something was lacking. Now I know. I just needed like 10db more bass. LOL.

Now my bassy music is sounding much more correct to my ears. I don't really get how these audiophile products are sold as reference sound. Maybe they are. Lots of genres aren't that bassy. But rap, EDM etc are definitley meant to be played with deep rumbling dominant bass. I didn't realize that I basically need the bass on the squig to hit 70-75 db. Now these genres are sounding correct to my ears. Nice thick meaty punch.

I was debating a Tea pro as my next set, but I think it's gonna be TSMR armor instead. Now I actually want to listen to bassy music.

Looking for Single DD: Hidizs MK12 Turris VS Canpur Silver Flash

Title. I'm looking for a high quality single DD. I am planning to EQ to taste. I am looking for a very good platform to start with. My theory that its better to buy for hardware and EQ to taste than buy random hardware and chase squiggles. This could be BS. Idk.

Silver Flash

Pros

  • People rave about the vocal presentation and bass quality.
  • Bass is close to my target
  • 10mm driver seems like it is high quality tho I don't know much about it
  • Looks badass, looks are important to me

Cons

  • Looking at squig, I will have to attenuate the treble in PEQ. That's too much treble for me. Based on this alone, I wont love it stock.
  • Trash cable but I have good ones on deck to replace
  • Semicustom shells might not fit. No way to demo or return since not sold on Amazon

MK12

Pros

  • Huge 12mm driver is just so enticing. Seems like it's hard to find comparable tech out there. It's the main attraction for me.
  • Red nozzle squig will be enjoyable stock. I'll still EQ it but it won't be mandatory like the Silver flash (probably) will.
  • It's on amazon so I can return it if there's an issue

Cons

  • Looks weird and huge and may not fit
  • Hidizs has a bad quality rep
  • More expensive

Anyway those are my thoughts on the pros and cons. Let me know if you've heard both of these (unlikely lol, they're kinda niche) or if you have any thoughts on my philosophy with these. IE - buying them as a platform, not just based on the squig. Basically it comes down to: is the 12 mm driver of the MK12 worth the money and the weird shells?

Favorite set AFTER PEQ? Kefine Arnar goes god tier with a little treble boost!

So a recent purchase was the Kefine Arnar and it is a cool set. Stock, it had absurdly smooth and dark treble but with passable detail. Plus it looks dope and has nice smallish and lightweight shells.

I heard it EQ'd well and I hit up DucBloke and got his PEQ settings. I applied his "neutral" one, which idk if it's "neutral" at all because there's a ton of bass, but I don't really care what it is since I love bass anyway. I like a neutral treble and a boosted low end.

For preference reasons, I ended up dialing back the treble and bass just slightly from Ducs EQ settings. The results are absolutely shocking to me. This set is blowing my mind with how good it sounds. The clarity, separation, texture, dynamics, detail. Across all genres it is absolutely intoxicating. When I turn off the PEQ it sounds like a muddy mess now. I can't unhear it.

I immediately became convinced that the factory tuning was a huge blunder from Kefine. They made it too dark - just a bit more top end juice and this set could have really taken the market by storm. Or not. What do I know, I'm still a bit of a noob. But I can see why Duc ranked the post-EQ arnar so highly.

Anyway so what's a set that leveled up to god tier once you dialed in your PEQ?

Nice little eBay pickup

Tekkusai Lucid. Got these for a good price. They’re a sleek and comfortable little quadbrid with a warm V tuning. Great bass and good detail with some nice air and sparkle, but the treble rolls off enough to not be harsh to my sensitive ears. The matte black finish is so cool. Glad to have them as they are discontinued/were limited.
