There's been an almost constant generator-like motor sound that we can hear from where we are in Northgate for the past 4ish hours (7-11pm). Sometimes it sounds like a truck in low gear going up a hill, other times like an industrial fan or a propeller plane. Any idea what it is? Can anyone else hear it? Driving me bonkers...

I know we tend to shit on the ol' REA pretty happily in this sub - myself included, but I wondered today if we have actually asked our fellow REA redditors these kinds of questions about what they do and why...
What i'd really like to understand is:
Why did you become a rental agent? From what I can tell, none of you really want to be doing what you're doing. The majority don't seem to take any joy in helping or engaging with other humans in a largely people-facing role, it appears to be pretty thankless and about average wage, and I'm sure you cop a lot of flak from disgruntled tenants and owners alike. What's the appeal? What drives you to show up to work everyday?(In b4 "gotta pay the bills" - I get it, we all need a job, but why this one?).
What would you attribute to the common experience of many renters struggling to get their REA to actually do what they're apparently being paid to do in a timely and satisfactory manner?
i.e why is it so hard to get urgent repairs seen to? why are so many simple and routine things regularly missed? why do they just "forget" about requests for information, replies to emails, giving notice of various notifiable events, and so on? Why are they seemingly able to continually fail to meet the basic requirements of their job with impunity?
What do you feel that you/your REA does well? For one, I can see a lot of effort goes into exit reports and ensuring vacating tenants are pinned with the maximum that can be passed on to them while upon entry it's pretty minimal. Are there other things like entry condition reports that take up a lot of resource, time and energy? Why are those things prioritised over supporting tenants in so many cases?
I anticipate a lot of this is systemic and not always a case of individual incompetence or lack of care, but I really just want some first-hand insight as to what it is like for you guys so maybe I think twice about the increasingly frustrated tone of my email before sending the 5th one in 3 days to our agent about our leaking hot water tank. I struggle to think of another industry where the individuals/businesses operating in it can fail so regularly with more-or-less 0 consequence.
As a renter, I know we have rights, but I'm also aware that rocking the boat can often end up in your lease not being renewed, so unfortunately going to the RTA for every failure isn't really viable. With that in mind, what do you think needs to change? What would you like to see improve in the REA you work for or the industry as a whole? What would help you access the motivation/time/resources to do the job properly?

Direct to boot order. Noticed the second I opened the bag when I got home.
Just updated the firmware for my KS wheel (due to button inputs suddenly not working) and had to set up my wheel again and recalibrate - sure no worries, but now i'm seeing that we have changed the button light settings UI to make it objectively worse and less user-friendly. Good job.
On top of that after using the now very painful UI to set the button lights, the settings didnt even save properly and only half the colours actually updated on the wheel and reflect what shows on screen. Half just remained the default colour. Both iracing and MOZA dropping dogshit updates this week. Test your shit before you update it for fucks sake. I've wasted my one day this week where I had time to race on trying to fix this garbage.
Edit: and the new default colour options are worse than before too? No yellow or orange? What kind of braindead work is this?
As the title says. I've looked for 20 minutes and can confirm the settigns for the rotary knobs no longer exist in the software. Why have we removed useful functionality? Both knobs on my CS V2 now only have one state where they do anything, all other positions do presicely nothing. Anyone have a fix?
Audio balance ruined - Spotter inaudible now on max volume.
Haptic feedback all messed up - rumble strips make my BK have a an epileptic seizure.
FFB all messed up - have spent two hours trying to get it back to where it was and still feels like shit.
I'm sure i'll find more issues as I try to sort this out.
EDIT: did indeed find more issues.
Wheel now undetectable under Wheel LFE settings.
Constant packet loss in solo practice server.
Experiencing all of the above for the first time in over two years of iRacing.
Why do they do this? Such a pain in the ass. Why deploy a patch thats just going to fuck everything up?
