Mildly infuriating app moment. Looked up the serial numbers for my camera and the app won't show me the whole number.
I thought it would be a good idea to looked up the serial numbers for the cameras before a trip just in case they got lost later. Thankfully I did cause if they did get lost the app wouldn't show the complete serial number making it essentially useless for reporting it lost or stolen. Clicking the question mark that is covering the number doesn't give me the full number it's just a FAQ answer.
Just thought of a handy feature. Wondering if there is something like it or it could be added.
So I'm trying to figure out a way to backup photos on the go without a laptop (I don't have room to bring my laptop and no other reason to use it). I've been trying with my phone and USB C hubs but no luck. I'm concerned about losing pictures if the camera gets lost or the card gets corrupted. So it'd be neat to back them up between events. I don't have space on my phone to move the pictures to my phone then onto another card.
Then I thought how neat would it be if I could just plug a USB-C card reader into the side of the camera and copy the files over from the camera directly into another card. As I understand this is not at all a thing but I think it could be super handy.
Back in my day fortune cookies were vague, hopeful and camewith a sense of cosmic pondering. Not anymore I guess.
Some fun splash pad pix I got with my X5.
I love this camera so much.
This is a little long-winded, but photographers may find it useful.
On every camera SD card I use, I keep a photo of my contact information in case the camera or card gets lost. The problem is that, if someone checks the photos directly on the camera, that contact image will show up at the end of all the other photos. It’d be more helpful if it was the first picture to load.
Here’s the workaround for that. If your camera displays the newest photo first, temporarily change the camera’s date to December 31, 2037. Take a photo of your contact information, then change the date back to the correct setting. That should keep the contact photo at the front of the camera’s gallery.
I use 2037 because dates beyond early 2038 can cause problems with some older software and devices.
I also keep copies of the contact image in both the SD card’s DCIM folder and the main directory, with an obvious filename such as:
00_IF_FOUND_CONTACT_INFO.jpg
That way, someone is more likely to see it whether they browse the photos through the camera or open the card on a computer.
Extra thought: Before resetting the camera’s date, change it to December 30, 2037, and take a happy photo of yourself with your family. It should appear immediately after the contact-information image. Putting faces to the owner may make the camera feel less like an abandoned piece of expensive equipment and more like someone’s collection of family memories. Giving the finder a little extra motivation to return it.
This is a little long-winded, but some of you may find it useful.

Looking for scuba buddy this coming tue or wed.
It’s looking like I may be in Monterey next week and would love to get in a few dives on Tuesday or Wednesday, most likely Tuesday. The trip is still tentative, but I’m hoping to line up a potential buddy ahead of time.
I’d like to do at least two easy dives at Breakwater or Old Fisherman’s Wharf, with the possibility of a night dive if conditions and energy levels are good.
I’m AOW certified, have 37 dives, and own all my equipment. I’m comfortable in the water, but I’m not currently in the best cardio shape, so I’m looking to keep things relaxed, shallow, and within about 35 to 40 feet. If there’s a longer surface swim before descending, I may need a few minutes to catch my breath once we reach the site.
I just want to be upfront about my limits so we can plan dives that are comfortable and enjoyable for both of us. Comment or message me if you might be interested!
I saw a stupid post that said Atheists would have sex with roadkill since they don't believe in a God that would tell them it's wrong. So I made this as a response.
Can I make it so a screengrab pulls the info, like the date, from the video?
I have an X5 and an Ace Pro 2. I find it way easier to to do screengrabs of videos rather then doing photos in the moment. But when I do this the create date is the date that I do the screengrab. I'd love for the app, or any other, to use the info from the video. Maybe do a Modify Date for the day I do the screengrab. Is there a way to do this? Or easily edit the info afterwards?
What are your thoughts on my regs to service
I've had my reg for 2 years now so I'm going to turn it in to get serviced. But I also have some used ones and thought it might be a good idea to get one of them serviced to have a backup in case something were to go wrong with a reg on a dive (I have seen it happen). I included pictures of the primary one I use (the first picture) and the two others ones I have. I'm curious what your thoughts are getting either one serviced or if it's worth doing? I'm not sure the models of them but tried my best to get pictures that would identify them. I'm going to try to look further into all of this as I eagerly await answers . I'm initially speculating the 1st stage and octo from the 3rd picture combine with the 2nd stage from the 2nd picture would be a decent backup system. (Is that reg better than the Brut that I use as my primary? I assume not but thought it was worth asking.) But I do not know this stuff extensively at all and I'm open to the idea that none of it is worth servicing. I'm also curious if the computer in the 2nd picture is decent compared the others which I'm more familiar with. Thank you in advance for you input. I always appreciate the insight I get here.
