Stuck between 2 choices that would change my life forever

Hi everyone, I’d really appreciate some advice from people familiar with the Australian engineering/energy industry, especially those who have experience with migration and working in Australia.

I (Electrical Engineer ) currently have two opportunities, and I’m trying to decide which one would be the better move for my long-term career and eventual migration to Australia or similar countries.

Option 1: 482 Visa Sponsorship offer

  • FIFO Engineer 40$/hr Base rate, more if deployed, Perth WA
  • Australian company
  • The company is sponsoring me for a 482 visa and will sponsor transition to 186 after 4 years.
  • Role is focused on heavy electrical site works
  • Opportunity to work with the Australian team and gain experience on Australian projects
  • pathway to build my career in Australia

Option 2: US Company, APAC Region , PH Based - AU Headquarters

  • Based in the Philippines, will travel within this region for work.
  • The offer is also good, and I can stop renting here in Metro Manila and go back to my province and rent there instead. (I can't live and work in my parents' home because of many circumstances iykyk)
  • More closely aligned with my current technical experience and career path as an engineer
  • Potentially stronger technical specialization, but no Australian relocation/sponsorship.
  • Combination of Field Work and Technical Studies + vendor-specific expertise.

I'm leaning towards option 1 because I really want to leave PH ASAP. But the experience I'd get for Option 2 is really good. If I choose this, I will have to process my own visa via 189/190 to migrate.

Would really appreciate perspectives from anyone who has gone through a similar PH → Australia engineering pathway, particularly in electrical/power systems.

Electrical Engineers in the Philippines: What's Your Industry, Salary, and Years of Experience in 2026?

Hi everyone.

I'm curious about the current state of Electrical Engineering careers in the Philippines and would like to get a realistic view of the market.

Most salary discussions here are usually dominated by IT, software, BPO, and remote jobs, so I wanted to hear specifically from Electrical Engineers and those working in related industries may it be remote, onsite, hybrid, etc.

I'm especially interested in seeing:

  • How salaries progress from fresh graduate to 10+ years experience
  • Which EE industries have the best salary growth
  • Whether local companies or MNCs pay better
  • Experiences of engineers who broke the ₱50k, ₱100k, or even ₱200k/month mark while staying in engineering

I'll start with mine.

Age: 27
License: REE (did not matter)
Industry: Power Systems
Position: Protection System and SCADA Design (Generation)
Experience: ~3-5 years
Salary: ₱78,750/month current, 37k (first job)
Location: PH
Company Type: Multinational Engineering Consultancy
Advice: Learn niche skills, networks matter, and having a good attitude and work ethic will be important.

Thanks to anyone willing to share. I think this could also help students, fresh grads, and engineers planning their next career move since EE in the Philippines is notoriously underpaid at the same time underdeveloped.

Hi, Please help me where to rent. Best of both worlds samin ni partner.

Hi everyone. So my partner and i work in Makati near One Ayala and her near Rob Gal Ortigas/Greenhills. Can you suggest which place to rent? I work in a hybrid set-up so okay lang mas pabor kay partner since she will be working fully onsite.

Budget around 16-18k excluding utilities, open din sa mas mura.

Also since both of us is not from luzon, prefer sana namin atleast may Bed, Ref and Aircon for convenience na din pag mag lilipat or uuwi na sa province. Thank you!
