Australia Employer-Sponsored Visa

So after years of working with this client, bigla ako inofferan na dun na magwork sa opisina namin sa Au.

Sa loob ng isang dekada na pagttrabaho ko sa kanila, never sila pumasyal dito sa PH. As in work relationship lang talaga.

Personal background for me:

  1. Accounting industry

  2. May asawa at 1 anak

  3. Walang balak mag-migrate. I can say we live a comftable life here in PH, may own house and lot in a private subdv in the city, cars, etc.

Willing din sila i-sponsor ang husband and my kid kase ayoko magwork sa malayo na di sila kasama.

My problem is:

  1. Hindi kaya mahirapan mag adjust ang anak ko? Di kaya sya ma-bully kung hindi English ang communication language namin? Tagalog lang kami sa bahay kasi.

  2. Alam ko mahal ang cost of living doon so my husband will need to find work too. How hard will this be?

  3. Sino magbabantay sa anak namin (4yo), kung magwwork kami pareho?

Modesty aside, benefits of normal citizens there is not a major plus point for me, because parang we can afford naman yung ganung healthcare dito sa atin.

Please be kind and thank you in advance to your inputs.

Australia Chef Migration

I received this email today for a chef position in Au. Are they legit? Mejo skechy yung email bcos of few grammar lapses, and wala rin sila license number provided sa email? Idk, pano ba magcheck ng recruitment agencies from Australia?

Any caregivers in Ireland?

My wife is already preparing her application as a caregiver in Ireland. Goal niya is to bring me and our child dun as her dependents, and possibly live there. Posible ba? Considering yung salary limitations ng isang caregiver at ang salary threshold para sa family reunification, parang mahirap. O baka may alam kayo na paraan?

We are also thinking na baka try our luck in a different country like Finland kasi parang mas madali ang family reunification.

Sobrang nakakahiya!

Alam niyo kung bakit? Kasi sila yung mga uneducated sa Pinas. Pansinin niyo, yung mga pumunta dito from pinas, majority or 80% are from fast food chains, janitors, construction workers, or drivers sa pinas. Dahil high salary ang mga ganyan dito at madalas ang OT, mas mabilis silang nagkapera.

Wag dalhin ang asal kalye dito sa Canada! Oo na, freedom of speech! Pero ilugar niyo! Lagay niyo sa tama, nababasa ng mga Canadian employers/co workers/friends niyo yan. Hindi natin to bansa! Pasalamat tayo na pinapasok tayo dito at ginawa tayong PR/Citizen!

Hey guys! I graduated MedTech 3 years ago to pursue Medicine but circumstances have changed and I’ve decided to quit Med school to pursue being a MedTech in Canada since my family is already there din. I haven’t taken the local boards yet, but i’m about to.

  1. What is the whole process for becoming a MedTech in Canada? I need a detailed explanation please
  2. The only experience I have was the 1 year clinical internship pre-grad. Do I need work experience to apply and how many years?

Anyone doing a PhD in Spain?

I have been in two East Asian countries doing my studies, and while this part of the world has become more familiar to me, I am planning to do further studies in Europe, and I’m eyeing Spain because the institute I want to be in is in Spain, and also, since I have studied Spanish briefly before, I have a foundation on the basics.

It seems like most of the Filipinos I know in Europe either study in Germany, or Switzerland, so I’m curious what are the experiences in Spain.

I also want to know about the working culture, and social interactions you have in your university/institute.

I have been in East Asia for 4 years now, doing my undergraduate and masters in Korea and Japan. In terms of education, I am frankly not impressed with the lectures because it’s more of rote memorization. But I did learn a lot from doing research in a lab and learning lab techniques throughout the years. I think that’s a big strength of East Asian countries, because they have facilities and even if the training is not that great, if you are motivated to learn something, you have resources you can always use, and you can teach yourself the techniques or equipment. For PhD, I want to build more on communicating my research to people because I want to either teach or work in a museum. Also, I find that a lot of scholars trained in Europe are more confident when they talk about their work, and they don’t back down easily when they are questioned and they also ask questions well. In East Asia, I eventually learned to assert myself, but otherwise, I feel likecould easily get carried away by just doing what I was told without questions.

So, anything you could tell me about Spain, in terms of university, institute, or just interactions with people in academia in general will be greatly appreciated, Thank you!!

Edit: I work in Marine Biology

Opportunities abroad for Speech Language Pathologists

Hi, are there any Speech Pathologists here that have successfully moved abroad? I’m currently a 24 yo Speech Pathologist based in Manila, and due to the current state of the Philippines I’m seriously eyeing a move to either Australia or New Zealand. I’ve heard that those countries don’t necessarily require a masters unlike Canada or the US? Thankfully though, my parents are willing to finance my postgrad, but I‘d rather not burden them with the massive expense of a masters degree. I recently took my IELTS and achieved an overall score of 8.5.

I’d really appreciate any input, lived experiences, or general candid advice!

Planning to apply for a Digital Nomad Visa

Hi everyone! I'm planning to take the Digital Nomad Visa route for me and my family to Spain.

For context, I'm a Business Analyst in an MNC here in the Philippines and have some operations, DevOps, and QA experience.

I would like to ask for help with where you get your listings for remote work. I've tried checking UpWork, LinkedIn, Jobstreet, Indeed, and Himalayas, but I can't seem to find any job opportunities. Any settings or search queries that you could suggest would be highly appreciated.

Thank you and hopefully see you there soon!

Any reco or advice, always wanted to work in abroad.

Hello I am a data analyst here at PH for almost 4 years.

I also have 3 companies, in my first and second company our clients is FMCG (Unilever & PMI).

Right now I am working for a AU company based here in PH where I am a Data Analyst for their Shared Services.

I have nearly 4 years of experience in:
Power BI (DAX, Power Query, dashboards)
SQL
Advanced Excel
Power Automate
Power Apps & AppSheet
Basic Python
ETL and data transformation
KPI reporting and dashboard development
Process automation and workflow improvement
Data validation and reporting

Most of my work has involved automating reports, building dashboards, and helping stakeholders make data-driven decisions.

Also a little bit background on my education, nag-college naman po though di lang po makuha yung diploma dahil po sa financial constraints.

Is my qualifications enough in terms of applying jobs in NZ or AU?

Also any suggestions po in terms of process or maybe path that I can take to pursue this little dream of mine hahaha.

Thank you po in advance!

Cheap mobile plan options in Australia

Looking for recommendations for a cheap mobile plan 🥹

I currently am on a 35/aud Optus plan, but I don’t use up all my data and have so much rolled over (200+ GB). Can anyone recommend a cheaper plan that I can switch to since sayang lang naman di ko masyado nagagamit yung data ko? Hopefully it uses an e-sim since I still have my Globe sim card on 😅

RN here — interviewed in April, still no word besides ‘legal is reviewing it.’ Normal or red flag?

Hi all, hoping for some insight from anyone who’s gone through EB-3 sponsorship or agency hiring for nursing roles.

I’m an RN (with an active NY license) applying for a hemodialysis nursing position in the US through an agency, with EB-3 visa sponsorship. I interviewed back in April, and it’s now July with no offer or rejection.

I’ve followed up once. The recruiter said they’re “waiting to hear from the legal team.” My application status in their portal still shows “in process,” not closed or rejected.

Stuck between a rock and a hard place

I'm about to enter university, and I just feel like there's no degree that can give me peace of mind. I'd love to get some pointers on how I could maximize my chances and make the best of my situation.

For context, I'm an intl student in an aus high school. Parents wanted me to come here because they wanted the best for me, and they expect me to be able to get PR or citizenship through this path. Evidently not the best path, but I'm trying to make do with what i have. After living here for a few years, I've also decided i want to stay here. What degree/actions can i take inorder to achieve this? I've read so many of the posts, it's helpful, but most of the people here are experienced workers so it doesn't really apply to my situation. (or maybe it does?)

Any advice or questions are welcome, thank you!

OEC - Hoping to rationalise

The Overseas Employment Certificate is one of controversial topics or cumbersome process for anyone hoping to work overseas. It is a blanket process that does not distinguish how an individual got the job or what the person’s profession is. I have worked in several countries and OEC didn’t make any difference. I have availed it and legally skipped it on several occasions. My worst experience was we lost 500K PHP worth of income due to the red tape (waiting time, irrational policies, etc.) in POEA Ortigas. This happened a decade ago. It is painful to read lost opportunities and income because of a piece of paper which does not even exist in other countries. It is not required for the visa application.

There have been several discussions here and I also shared this study published by IOM. Like any youngster, I was once idealistic and hopeful that things eventually get better. I made conscious legal decisions and took things into my hands where necessary based on my negative experiences with OEC. My argument is I that found a job online, passed the interviews, and got the job offer from a very reputable company (e.g. FAANG, Big 4, Govt hospital, etc.) I did not go through any recruitment agency in PH. I applied for a visa which required medical examination, police checks, etc. After all those destination-country stringent checks and processes, I finally got my visa and they will allow me to live and work in that country. However, I need an OEC if my origin country is in PH. This is where it all starts to fall apart. I signed a contract and the PH govt wants an addendum that I found ridiculous and my employer too like shouldering transportation, accommodation, and other clauses. As part of the requirements, they require identification documents from the employer too. Why does one need to pay some random agency to process it? To lend their name? That’s BS.

This might be a long shot but I will give it a try. I am nobody, but I am hoping that someone with common sense can hear us out and rationalise this archaic requirement and process. I understand the history and pros of it for other segments of OFWs. However, it is 2026 and it should have had evolved. I would prefer to have a risk-based, online, and data-driven system.

Does anyone know how we can influence the old laws and implementing rules and regulations? Is there a change champion in PH that we can reach out to or already in the process of changing this? Aspiring OFWs do not deserve their dreams shattered. Philippines passed a law that directly bans hiring Filipinos many years ago. Now, some companies do not even want to directly hire Filipinos at all.

Anyone here took TESDA Caregiving NC II before moving to the US?

Hi everyone!

My fiancé is an active-duty U.S. Marine, and we’re planning to move to the US through the CR-1 visa process.

I’m thinking of taking TESDA Caregiving NC II while I’m still here in the Philippines since I’ll most likely need to study again in the US to become a CNA anyway. I figured it would be a good way to build a foundation and gain some basic caregiving knowledge before I move.

For those who have taken this path:

  1. Did TESDA Caregiving NC II help you when you moved to the US?
  2. Did you still have to complete CNA training after arriving?
  3. Any TESDA-accredited schools in Metro Manila that you would recommend?
  4. I’ve also been applying for a TESDA scholarship through the BRS portal but keep getting denied. Has anyone experienced this, and what did you do?

I’d really appreciate hearing about your experiences. Thank you!
