Hey,

Malazan is actually one of the first epic/dark fantasy series I’m reading, so I don’t have much of a reference point yet. Of course I watched LOTR and GoT and all of the popular fantasy movies/shows.

I’d love to hear from people who’ve read widely in the genre.

Where do you place Malazan compared to other big series (WoT, ASOIAF, First Law, Stormlight, etc.)? What makes it different or unique in your eyes?

Also, since I’m fairly new to the genre, I’d really appreciate any recommendations, what would you suggest to someone to check along with Malazan?
Like something different enough but interesting, can be even SF or Historical.

So far, I'm enjoying the story, even though it can sometimes be hard to keep track of all the characters with so many different POVs. And I also appreciate female characters, theyre kinda badass without falling into cliché.

i'm trying to set up a dynamic range compression filter to avoid constantly adjusting the volume (dialogues too quiet, action scenes aoo loud, and some high-pitched voices spike the volume unexpectedly). I'm not trying to boost dialogues specifically.

I just want to even out the dynamic range so everything stays at a comfortable level without having to touch the volume controller constantly.

I have currently this on my mpv.conf :

af=lavfi=[acompressor=ratio=4:attack=40:release=3000,loudnorm=I=-18]

is this good ?

will this filter work with different audio quality ? (6 channels, 2 channels) ?

hello,

looking for good romance books.

- preferably short (like 250p max)

- can have fantasy elements but not too much

- no comedy

- any time period

I have not much experience in "romance" books so I want to try it, maybe it will be easier for me with "non completely fantasy world romance".

Ideally it would combine serious themes like society, class struggles with a touch of romance.

I had throught of Pride and Prejudice but it's 400 pages - maybe if you convince me it's the one I looking for I can read it.
