After my appointments, and a brief hassle from my insurance company, I got my tgel packets! I applied the first one as soon as I got out the shower this morning!

My friend recently (less than a week ago) bought a 2010 Honda Odessey with around 160k miles on it. They bought it from a family friend, who told them everything was fine with the car: clean title, no accidents, everything in working order. Had someone in that family fix it up and give it a once over. However, apparently they didn't do a good job because my friend drove maybe 9 minutes away and got into an accident. They tried hitting the brakes but the car didn't stop.

Towed it back home and someone i know who works on cars said the brake fluid was leaking. Based on the damage on the car, he assumes the brake fluid was leaking before the accident.

Would my friend be able to take this to small claims court? Is it even worth it?
