Does anyone else see a reduction in tinnitus volume after taking gaba?

I always feel like the loudness of my tinnitus reduces after taking gaba or even l theanine or taurine. It’s not a drastic change and the effects only last for a few hours but I feel a good 20% reduction in volume. Could it be placebo? Anyone else had the same experience?

Can I catch wild brook trout with power baits?

I’m gonna use power baits for the first time and I’m so excited to see how it works. Did you have any success with it catching native brook trout?

What is the best dosage for mirtazapine?

For context, I have tinnitus so I can’t really get to sleep like everyone else and need a strong medication like mirtazapine to sleep. The doctor prescribed 15mg pills but I’ve heard that lower doses are better for sleep. Is that true? Should I cut the pills in half?

How is it that Benzos like clonazepam quiet tinnitus but supplements like taurine, l theanine or gaba can’t?

Clonazepam completely quiets my tinnitus for a whole day and it does so by activating gaba receptors in the brain. But it doesn’t make sense because taurine and l theanine do the same thing but they have little to no effect on tinnitus. GABA supplements haven’t done anything for me either. How does it work?

Is it safe to take clonazepam for my tinnitus once a week?

I take 1 mg of clonazepam to have some quiet times and a good sleep only once a week. When I take it my tinnitus goes quiet for like 10 hours or so. Is it safe? I’ve heard that benzodiazepines are dangerous in the long term but is 1mg once a week going to lead to a resistance buildup or it’s safe?

It’s not just about the sound.

Tinnitus is not just a sound. It’s not like any other sound and you can’t just “habituate” like you do with other sounds like clocks or your refrigerator’s hum. Tinnitus is a hyperactive brain and a nervous system on edge that never gets to rest EVEN during the night. They actually did an experiment that showed tinnitus prevents the brain from entering deep restorative sleep. In order for your brain to create those abhorrent sounds 24/7 it needs to have your neurons work endlessly and never rest which prevents the whole brain (and by extension the whole body) from relaxing. Even if you’re at work with a mild tinnitus that gets easily masked it would still damage your brain/body because masking doesn’t stop your neurons from working endlessly. And those neurons need vitamins and minerals to function properly. A big amount of what you eat gets drained by those hyperactive neurons. I’m sure many of you also feel like the sounds you hear are shaking your brain. That’s because those sounds are killing your brain cells. Even if your tinnitus were to sound like 432 hz it would still drive you crazy because it’s not the sound, it’s a nervous system always on alert which causes your anxiety.

Unpopular opinion : Low frequency sounds are much worse than high frequency ones

I have multiple frequencies from 250 hz to 13-14000 hz and in my opinion low frequency tinnitus is by far worse than high frequencies. It’s unbearable.

I truly believe there will be a cure by 2030

They actually had a cure. A drug called Trobalt/retigibine eliminated tinnitus completely in many people by reopening potassium channels in the brain. It was unfortunately taken off the markets because of some severe side effects but they’re currently working on remaking the same drug without the severe side effects of trobalt. And so far it has actually been more potent and without the side effects of trobalt. And there’s also the auricle device and some drugs like CIL001 that are believed to repair the damaged synapses between the hair cells and auditory nerves which is another cause of tinnitus. There’s also SPI-1005 that will probably be on the market by the end of 2026 or 2027. Now I doubt that SPI-1005 will cure chronic noise induced tinnitus but I believe it can moderately reduce the symptoms. Maybe I’m wrong about that, but one thing’s certain. There will be a good treatment for tinnitus by 2030 instead of useless sound therapy or CBT bullshit. Even clonazepam quiets my tinnitus for a a whole day and I’ve heard so many other people have the same experience with it including my therapist. So the cure is there and totally possible.

Am I the only one who wakes up with no tinnitus or at least a very very mild ringing? I got mine 3 months ago and it always comes back after 15 to 30 minutes every morning but idk why I wake up to silence. I just hope every morning that it’ll stay that way but it always ends up returning after an hour at most.

I play pink noise on my earbuds every night to get to sleep. Otherwise I just can’t sleep otherwise since my fan can’t mask the T. But I’ve heard some people say that earbuds are dangerous for the ears even on low volume because they’re inside the ear canal and that puts much more sound pressure into the eardrum and the inner ear. Should I stop using them?

For context, I’m going to catch brook trouts for the first time and have no experience. I’m planning a trip to northern Quebec for fishing but I’m not sure if it’s a good time for catching trouts. What’s your experience?
