(US): Random letter from lawyer demanding tens of thousands for work I never had done

In short, I got a letter from a law firm stating they represent some LLC which has acquired future receivables from some plumbing company claiming I owe them $73,000.

I am quite sure I used this plumbing company about 8 months ago to clear a clogged sewer line and paid them $650 using Zelle. I do not have any invoices or contracts for the job other than Zelle payment proof. It was a 10 min thing.

The law firm is a real firm and they seem to specialize in this type of nonsense judging by a few of their reviews online.

The letter claims they will file a lien against me and collect. Letter also says I’m “prohibited” from contacting or paying the plumbing company directly (who are they to tell me who I can or cannot contact?).

Anyway, how do I handle this? I don’t want them to jam me up somehow.

Home addition price: too good to be true?

Local contractor advertising this. I am looking to build this exact addition, this exact size on crawlspace foundation . 2 rough estimates I got were 120-150. This is saying starting at 76k.

looked him up: good recent reviews, licensed, lots of similar additions built on his social media accounts. Will this be a bait and switch? worth looking into? Seems too cheap?

What would you do here? Looking to beautify a bit on a small budget.

This is on the side of my property behind the fence facing a semi busy road. It’s between 2 huge trees gets no sun, sidewalk beneath. Today basically a weed farm.

Looking to just make it look nicer than what it is today with no maintenance. I’m in the northeast.

$500 budget and I can do the work myself.

Morning train yesterday, passenger wanted to fight the conductor

Guy gets on the 7:00am train around Elizabeth heading to Penn station. He’s on his speaker phone talking to someone, cursing and very loud and disruptive. Conductor walks by asking for tickets and asks the guy if he has headphones, guy says no, conductor asks him to turn it down and says no one wants to hear his conversation. Guy gets mad and curses at the conductor for being disrespectful Conductor walks away but must’ve said something- the guy jumps out of his seat and runs after him. I didn’t see what happened next but heard words and commotion. Guy returns to his seat a minute later screaming how he would smack the shit out of the conductor and how he’s a bitch and scared and would likely call the cops etc.

He proceeds to retell the story to whoever he was talking to on the phone who is still on speaker. He later asks another passenger if he was being disrespectful. Lol

I think it’s time to consider the bus as it’s getting worse and worse on the trains.

Enjoy the weekend folks

Will town jam me up for an existing deck built without a permit?

I am looking at having an addition and a pool added to my house. I’m doing those by the book and getting the permits/approvals, however, my house has a small 8x15 floating deck which was built without a permit.

In your experience would the town inspectors flag something like that when they come out to inspect an entirely different piece of work on my house?
