Getting up while taxiing

Getting up while taxiing

WILD. I am at ORD. We land. Are still actively driving on the runway. And a whole group of people just get up and start walking towards the front.

Then a few others get up.

Everyone is like wtf, did they get special permission? Are they airport staff or marshals? No. They’re in sweats and shit.

FA finally gets on and tells them to sit down. They ignore. She says it again and threatens to have the plane stop. That’s when they get cussed out by everyone, myself included.

One pleaded “we have a tight connection” (meanwhile the plane is actively moving). Also — we landed 10min early, but I digress.

After being shamed, they sit back down. But then a mother and toddler get up again because the toddler “is about to wet his pants.” Oh well lady. Not only is it’s DANGEROUS to be walking your toddler on an active runway, the bathrooms are locked.

The world is coming undone.

TSA Precheck through CLEAR

Just offering a tip for anyone else who may be applying for TSA PreCheck through CLEAR.

The CLEAR machines do NOT work with passport cards. I tried one day, didn’t work at all. I thought the machine was having connection issues, but the attendant said it’s just not reading the card.

I had to reschedule my appointment and try again at a different location. As soon as I pulled my passport card out, the lady warned that more than 1/2 the time they don’t work, but will try.

It still did not work, BUT if you have a Real ID, they can scan that and use it to find your passport data. That worked.

Just FYI.

PS - when you do the fingerprints, don’t press too hard, but also not too soft. Save yourself all the reattempts.

Switch to i4 from Model 3

Seriously considering switching from 2022 Tesla Model 3 to a 2023 i4. Any opinions on how the cars drive similarly or differently? Particularly regen-braking. I know bmw has different modes. Does the most active regen braking feel and behave the same as Tesla? What about navigation systems (Tesla's vs BMWs I guess)? Any other watch-outs, flags or opinions? I always wanted the i4 and can now afford it, but got so used to my Tesla and how it drives. I'm willing to give up sentry and keyless locking/unlocking for the looks

CJ’s vibe

I’ve watched the full series easily a dozen or more times, but I can never tell when precisely CJ evolves from being the fun person on the team who was smart but made mistakes often, to the (second) most serious person on the team (after Toby) who was by far the most competent.

It was before she got the CoS job.

Thoughts on where it happened?

Transition lenses TOO sensitive?

See photo.

Wondering if anyone can help me avoid this if I ever get transitions lenses again (I don’t remember which brand or tech of lenses I have, whatever Warby Parker uses).

But I find them to be very impractical, which defeats the goal. When I’m out walking about, there is constantly some strip or segment that doesn’t transitions, depending on the angle of light. So I’m walking down the street and there’s a clear band through my lens because the arm of the frame is blocking the sun. Or 1/2 the lens stays clear because the sun is behind me.

Is this just a common and unavoidable experience? Is something wrong with my lenses? Should I switch to a different brand or tech?

It’s like they’re too sensitive…or don’t trigger a chain reaction across the lens. I don’t want stripes on my glasses. And if I have to take them off to angle them toward the sun, that only lasts 5min or so before zebra stripes again.
