​The Seitei War arc has already entered the top 10 longest shonen manga flashbacks in history, and the top 5 for Weekly Shonen Jump. Yeah, it's just a number, but what’s truly amazing is Hokazono’s absolute goated storytelling made everyone lock-in in this fb. Even after jumping from one of the highest cliffhanger imaginable into a much slower-paced flashback, nobody complained. I thought we would only get drops trough the story about the war, but here we are 11(06/04/26) chapters deep and we want more.

​The reason most mangakas avoid long, uninterrupted flashbacks to tell a cohesive story is that they usually feel forced to use small crumbs of lore as "jingling keys" to keep the reader hooked and also they use these small inserts as retcon tools that overtime destroy the narrative.

The average manga reader lacks object permanence they get frustrated if the main character doesn’t appear in every single chapter. But the Kagurabachi fanbase is just built different.

I don't know how to explain it, but KB sales are actually increasing this deep into a flashback arc. Hokazono is just built different.
