These pictures were taken sometime between September 1st and 10th, 1944, as the ship docked next to ABSD-1 has been identified as the repair ship USS Briareus (AR-12).

One thing I wanted to research about was the exact location of ABSD-1 during her time at Espiritu Santo. It seems alot of the time it's stated that the dry dock was in Palikulo Bay as seen in this this first map, that is incorrect. I don't believe the dry dock was ever in the bay.

Using one of the pictures given to me by u/ResearcherAtLarge and a map I've found of the bases around that area with the help of Google Maps I've figured out the exact location of the dry dock.

The picture of ABSD-1 is from January 8, 1945 with USS Antelope (IX 109) & LST-120.

Hello! Finally had some time to work on the YO barge. Life always seems to get in the way:P

I changed the mast as I wasn't happy with how small it was. I'm working on figuring out the navigation lights next.

I also worked on adding some tires as bumpers as seen on a few photos. Slowly getting closer and closer to getting painted!

Hello Everyone,

This is my scale model desk I've been slowly building and working on for the past two years.

Did some rearranging this past week mostly ontop with some photos and a few models. I definitely like this layout so far. Maybe some surprises coming soon.

The larger tugs are most likely Hiawatha Class District Harbor Tugs, USS Sakarissa (YTB-269) & USS Pogatacut (YT-267)

Hello Everyone,

No project update today, but I did finally get some time to test out some LifeColor paints.

These are just a few different 1/350 figures I wanted to test on and find the right colors for the uniforms and such. I think I found a good color match for the US Navy work uniforms. I still need a better set of very fine detail brushes..

Once I get them I will finish painting the fine details.

What a fantastic book! Highly recommended if interested in flying boats or the Martin Mariner.

Definitely worth having in the stash as it has detailed information about battles and a good to have appendix of casualties in the Mariner.

It does go into the Mariner after the WW2 and into Korea and foreign service as well

I've already read his first two books and they are fantastic.

This book is a memoir of his experiences as a young enlisted man in the U.S. Navy during World War II from his enlistment in 1939.

Just a small update as I had food poisoning last weekend and it was terrible but thankfully I've fully recovered.

I have plan for finishing the main mast and how to go about gluing the railings down and such.

I should be really to start painting by next weekend!

She's been a fun project, after finishing her I will finsh up her sister the YW water barge.
