therapy wait-lists and psychiatric medication

context:

I'm an international student coming to the Netherlands in a few weeks. I've been browsing insurance options and atm I'm leaning towards insuretostudy.

Recently I've been diagnosed with ADHD and OCD, I also have a problem with suicide ideation. Currently I'm meditated and have monthly sessions with a psychiatrist. I'm not seeing any therapists atm since my parents don't approve of them.

Questions:

I noticed that the insurance covers therapy to some extent, and it got me thinking if I'd be able to start seeing one when I move to the Netherlands, but I have no idea how long wait-lists would be. And if the GP even refers a recently arrived international student to a therapist? I would have a note from my current psychiatrist stating my diagnosis. (I've heard they usually chalk it up to recently moving and just tell you to take vitamin d)

I was also hoping to continue seeing my current psychiatrist even when I'm in the Netherlands, and I'm wondering if I can have my GP rewrite whatever he prescribes or if I'll have to switch to a Dutch psychiatrist?

Thank you for your help

Café Stonewall

I'm an international student coming to Enschede in a couple of months. I'm also a lesbian, and never been to a gay bar so not familiar with the rules.

I was wondering if I'd be welcome at Stonewall Cafe or if it's mostly a men's gay bar. My ld Dutch friend told me that places like that mostly cater to men, and I don't want to intrude on their space.

genioplasty before braces

Has anyone here with an overbite and a recessed chin got a sliding genioplasty before getting their braces? What was your experience like? Did you get the results you wanted appearance wise?

I'm getting conflicted answers from the internet, and I want to be sure in what I want before seeing a doctor.

mini/countertop oven recs?

Hi everyone

I'm moving to the Netherlands in August/September as a student. I have a small studio secured in student housing (UT campus) and I'd like to buy an oven when I get there.

My most favorite hobby (and most of the times my only one) is baking. Mostly pastries and stuff, but recently I've gotten into bread making and absolutely love it, so it would be preferable if the oven could fit a 2 liter dutch oven.

So far most of the options I found (breville, nutricook, black & decker) couldn't be found on NL amazon and I'm not sure if the results google shows with NL vpn is accurate, so I'm asking you guys.

Any recommendations?

first successful loaf!

After a bunch of tries in a loaf pan I finally caved and bought a mini dutch oven and it gave me my first success

The taste was great. It was so chewy and nice.

BUT slicing it was a hassle😭 Should get a bread slicer? Do you guys have any tips on how to make the slicing process easier?

Ingredients:

50g starter just past peak.

175g water.

250g bread flour (14% protein).

5g salt.

mixed together by hand. let it sit for thirty minutes, then started four rounds of stretch and folds thirty minutes apart. bulk fermentation took 6.5-7 hours at 25°C

pre shaped and let it sit on the counter for 20 minutes, then shaped and put in the proofing bowl (just a random bowl, not a banneton) and let it sit for another twenty minutes.

it cold proofed for about 15-16 hours, then baked at 230°C for 20 minutes with the lid and 20 minutes uncovered.

N26 and M27 students

Hey r/IBO! With M26 exams being done, I have slots opened up and I'm looking to take on students who are playing the long game, specifically anyone sitting May 2027 or November 2026.

If you're a first or second year IB student and want to get ahead rather than scramble at the end, I'm here to help.

A bit about me:

\- Experienced IB tutor and alumni with a strong track record

\- Subjects: Math AA HL/SL, Physics and Chemistry SL, Business Management SL/HL

\- Online, 1-on-1, flexible scheduling

\- I focus on building genuine understanding of concepts and exam strategies, not just drilling past papers

What we'd work on:

\- Getting on top of content early so it actually sticks

\- IA planning and structuring (way less painful if you start early)

\- Exam technique and command term practice

\- Keeping up momentum throughout the course

Starting early genuinely makes a difference in IB, there's a reason the students who do well aren't cramming in April. If you want consistent, structured support from now through your exams, drop me a DM and let's chat.

Happy to do a free 30 minutes intro session to see if it's a good fit!

Prices:

a single 60 minutes long session is 25USD

ten 60-minutes long sessions purchased as a package would be 200USD, that's two free sessions!

do you ever edit published chapters of an ongoing fic?

So I'm writing this fic, it was my first and like the idiot that I am I chose to write a long fic and publish as I go instead of writing everything first and then publishing. The fic is on AO3, 8 chapters outta 10 published and has like 80+ kudos or so.

Thing is, the first two chapters have tense inconsistencies. And they aren't awfully written, but the second chapter has this section where I take a teen dealing with a fight with her crush and turn it into "storms taking light away from the forest floor". The metaphors I used were all over that second part of this chapter, and they are extremely over the top, ver ooc, and not even similar to my usual writing style or anything in the rest of the story!!! (In my defense, I was drunk when I wrote that)

So my question is, should I go back and edit it out? Or leave it there as a charming little reminder of how much I've improved? I'm leaning towards the second option but my perfectionism is not. I'm also kinda avoiding writing the last two chapters so idk.

I made bread with it about 7 days ago, fed it and it's been in the fridge for the past 6 days, lid fully tight. I'm hoping it's just the whole wheat flour lumping together because I do not want to be stuck with a new starter again😭

And the comments? These asshats literally DENIED Mahsa Amini was killed over her hijab!

"The OP is spreading propaganda"

"I've seen so many Iranian women walking around without the hijab so this is a lie she did more than just not wear a hijab"

"I know people in Iran and they're never stopped by the morality police"

Saying that as if the very reason women get to walk around without their hijabs right now is not the women life freedom protests, or as if the morality police has never hurt other people.

I had to flee my home country after those protest to save my life, seeing those comments denying the trauma me and thousands of other young Iranians went through in Iran made me want to kms and probably some other people while I'm at it.
