Getting tired of touring houses

Saw 6 places over the last two weekends and I’m at the point where they all blur together now lol. Cheap cabinets, weird layouts, tiny rooms somehow labeled “luxury”, then they still want crazy money for it. Feels like people just throw paint on everything and list it.

One neighbor kept recommending Foxlane Homes because they built with them last year and said the whole process was smoother than they expected. We’ve been looking into it but I still don’t know who’s reliable anymore with all these builders and contractors. Seriously does anyone know a company that’s genuinely good to work with?

Watching my brother deal with his ex is becoming a full time job

My brother has been crashing in my spare room since late January after his marriage finally hit a wall. It has been about three months of him just staring at his phone, waiting for a text back about when he can see his kids. His ex is only letting him have them on Sunday afternoons for three hours at a park, which is wild after they were married for nearly a decade.

We spent most of last week digging through old bank records and text screenshots to put a timeline together. He’s been in contact with Comunale Law Office to try and get a temporary visitation motion filed before the end of the month. I didn't realize how much paperwork is involved just to get a basic schedule on paper when one person is being difficult.

Has anyone managed to get a temporary order pushed through in less than 90 days? He’s already missed his son’s soccer playoffs and it feels like every week we wait is just more damage done.

Husband detained by ICE at routine check-in

My husband went to his scheduled ICE check-in this morning in Chicago. They arrested him and transferred him to a detention center in Wisconsin.

Background:

He has a deportation order from 2018 that we've been trying to reopen

Been married 4 years, we have 2 US citizen kids (ages 3 and 6)

No criminal record, he's been compliant with all check-ins for years

We filed to reopen his case 8 months ago, still pending

I have no idea what to do. Can he get bond? How long does this process take? Will they deport him before the reopening motion is decided?

I'm panicking. Kids are asking where daddy is and I don't even know if I can visit him or when he'll get a hearing.

Has anyone dealt with ICE detention in the Midwest? What should I expect and what can I do right now?

Thinking of talking to a law firm like Kriezelman Burton & Associates. Anyone worked with them?

Spent like 2 nights reading threads here and now I have 6 tabs open and still no clue what I should do. Some people say panels only, others say panels are useless without batteries, then others say just get a generator and skip the whole thing.

I’m trying to plan something that covers at least fridge, heat and a few outlets during outages, nothing fancy, but the price jumps fast once you add storage.

I also realized I have no idea how to pick an installer. Everyone says “get multiple quotes” but even comparing 3 feels messy when each one suggests a different setup.

I saw Wolf River Electric in IA mentioned in a couple posts about Generac batteries and installs, but I don’t know if that’s a safe pick or just one of many. What did you end up prioritizing first, panels, batteries or backup generator?

I really thought my stomach was made of steel after traveling for months without a single issue. Last night I saw this tiny taco stand with a huge line and figured if the locals are eating there, it’s fine. I ordered the pork with way too much salsa and it was amazing until about 3 in the morning when I woke up drenched in sweat.

I’ve spent the last few hours basically living in the hostel bathroom which has no fan and only one roll of paper left. My biggest mistake was not bringing a proper emergency kit because I thought I was "above" getting sick.

I’m currently just trying to survive on sips of lukewarm Gatorade and using ENTEROSGEL to see if I can bind whatever toxins are wrecking my system before my bus ride this afternoon. I can’t even imagine sitting on a bus for five hours in this heat right now.

If you're planning a trip, don't be arrogant - pack the meds even if you think you don't need them. I've already missed my walking tour and I'm probably going to lose the deposit on my next hostel because I can't move. My head is spinning and I just want to be back in my own bed.

I had knee surgery about 6 weeks ago, still swollen, still limping, walking more than 50 yards is difficult, especially in those parking lots with ramps and stairs, so a few times I parked in handicapped spots when nothing was open, yes I know what it looks like, I got pulled over twice in the same week and then got a ticket for about $140, I tried to explain when I called but I don't know if they'll care, I just feel bad for not pretending, I'm literally struggling to get around now, has anyone here gotten a temporary handicapped parking permit after surgery and where do you go to get one?

So I’m trying to figure out how to move my stuff from the US to Australia and it’s getting messy fast. I’ve got like 4 suitcases worth of clothes, a small desk setup, random boxes, nothing huge but still too much for just extra baggage.

Airlines quoted me something like 300 per bag after the second one which makes no sense. I also saw people talking about shipping boxes but timelines were all over the place, some said 2 weeks, some said 2 months. I’m not even sure how customs works there or if I’ll get hit with extra fees when it arrives. has anyone here actually done this and knows a decent company for moving from the US to Australia

Been going in circles for like 3 evenings now. I want to switch to an EV but buying upfront feels too much, so leasing made more sense. Problem is every deal I check looks fine at first then I notice weird mileage limits or upfront costs jumping from £2k to £5k.

Even the same car, same year, somehow ends up £60-£90 difference monthly depending where I look. I drive around 11k miles a year, mostly city, nothing crazy. Just don’t want to lock into something dumb for 3 years.

Is there a better way to actually compare EV leasing deals properly in the UK without missing stuff or overpaying on the monthly?
