Food.

I’m so fucking tired of food and having to think of food and what the fuck I’m going to make in the morning and for fucking lunch and for fucking dinner and then having to do it all again fucking tomorrow and the next day for the rest of my fucking life. Rousseau was right, man is born free and everywhere in chains, and it’s fucking food that hangs off my goddamn neck.

Do any locals remember this store?

Picked up a VHS tape with this on the side, looked up the store and can’t seem to find any info on it and how long it had been there. Was seeing if any El Paso locals had any cool memories of this place

Pell Grant Changes Fall 2026

Was there a recent change with FAFSA and Pell Grant dispersal with VA GI Bill? I remember seeing a headline that I can’t seem to find now about not receiving a Pell grant refund if your semester is covered by other means? Seemed to be different from previous semesters of refunds through FAFSA

A day of reassurance

I (M29) am a substitute teacher in the process of obtaining my bachelors degree in elementary education, and I’ve had my doubts about becoming a teacher. I’ve substituted many times in the past and just didn’t feel like I was effective or able to communicate to these kids.

Today, was a full day of teaching 6th graders social studies. I was worried going into the school because I’ve had bad experiences in the past with teaching middle school and a tough time previously.

Each and every class today, the students were engaged, they asked questions and understood the concepts I was teaching that they had never heard before. One kid said I was “the most goated teacher for real” which really made my day. Several of the kids asked if I could sub again for them, and honestly I almost cried.

It was a day of reassurance for me and this is a story for all the other subs out there who might have felt the same as me, it’s possible to have a great day out there and keep up the good fight.

Writing absolute trash, then coming back and fixing?

Hello all, I have a novel I’ve always wanted to write, but never began in the first place.

Well that’s changed now! I’ve started, am brand new to trying to write and have a question, is it normal to just write down a free flowing thought or idea that isn’t good at all, maybe about a paragraph or so, and then go back and fix? Is that too time consuming? Should I try and get it right the first go around so there’s less time for revision? There’s no time limit I’ve given myself but also don’t want to waste time just to waste it, thanks for reading and any help is appreciated!
