HIM (2025) was way deeper than I expected

I watched HIM on Netflix and honestly thought it was phenomenal. I almost didn't watch it because of so many negative reviews, but I’m glad I watched it for myself.

A lot of people seem to focus only on the crazy and chaotic moments, but I think the movie had a much deeper meaning behind it all. I saw themes about mental health, religion, fame, pressure, identity, and how the entertainment industry can consume people.

It felt like more than just a sports movie to me. The psychological and emotional parts of the film really stood out, and I only focused on the deeper messages behind everything that was happening.

I think some people may overlook those themes because they go into the movie expecting something more straightforward, but personally it connected with me a lot. I know the movie won’t connect with everyone the same way, but I’d honestly give it a 10/10.

Did anyone else interpret the movie this way?

Looking for yoga + tennis + chill rec spots in Fort Lauderdale area

Hey,

I’m in my mid twenties and living around Lauderhill, Plantation, Tamarac, and Sunrise. I’ve been trying to build a consistent weekly routine that mixes a few things I enjoy: 🧘 Yoga something calm, beginner-friendly, or just not super intense. 🎾 Tennis casual play, lessons, or beginner leagues. 🎲 Some kind of relaxed rec / social activity (community centers, pickup sports, etc.)

I’ve already checked out a few places like Plantation Community Center, Frank Veltri Tennis Center, and a couple yoga studios around Davie/Plantation, but I’m still trying to figure out what actually works well long-term and has a good vibe, especially for people in their 20s.

Not really looking for hardcore gym culture or super competitive sports. More just a balanced routine where I can stay active, unwind, and maybe meet some people in a low-pressure setting.

If anyone around here actually does yoga and tennis or has found a good combo of spots that work together, I’d really appreciate any recommendations.

What career paths should I realistically target with a Sociology BA + customer service experience?

Hi everyone,

I recently earned my Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Florida Atlantic University and have about 6 years of customer service experience in fast-paced environments (restaurant, retail, and operations support).

I’m currently trying to decide what career paths make the most sense to pursue long-term. I’m open to different directions, but I’m especially trying to figure out what is realistic given my background and what roles I should be targeting first.

Right now I’m considering areas like:

  • Healthcare support / clinical research entry roles
  • Customer success / client operations
  • Airport / logistics jobs
  • Administrative or office coordination roles

My main goal is to eventually reach stable roles in the $25/hr+ range and grow from there, but I’m unsure which path is most realistic or efficient to pursue first.

For people in hiring or who have similar backgrounds—what would you recommend focusing on? What paths tend to have the best long-term growth from where I’m starting?

Looking for work in Broward (recent grad + customer service experience)

Hi everyone,

I’m currently trying to get a better sense of the job market in Florida, especially for entry-level or early career positions.

I recently graduated and I’ve been exploring different industries (customer service, healthcare support, airport jobs, and office/administrative roles). I’m based in South Florida and trying to understand what companies or industries are actively hiring right now.

For people working or hiring in Florida—what fields or employers are currently most active or easiest to get into?

Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Soft Life Reading Society Book-club?

Anyone in Broward/Fort Lauderdale interested in an introvert-friendly urban fiction book club? Mostly African American romance, drama, contemporary fiction, and relatable reads.

Thinking:
Barnes & Noble or library meetups
silent reading and optional discussion
low-pressure/social but chill vibes
open to beginners and casual readers

Would anyone be interested?

I had unprotected intercourse two days ago and again yesterday, and I’m pretty sure I just started ovulating, so I know the risk could be there.

I didn’t want to take hormonal birth control, so I ended up trying some natural things I saw online — I made a juice with papaya (including the seeds) and pineapple, and I took about 2000 mg of vitamin C.

Just to be clear, I know there’s no solid scientific evidence that any of this actually prevents pregnancy, so I’m not recommending it as a method. I’m just sharing what I did. I'm also hoping this work.

I’m still within the window for emergency contraception like Plan B or ella and considering my options now. Has anyone been in a similar situation or have advice?
