New in town - Is it weird to go by a bar / club by yourself?

EDITED: I just moved here, in my late 20s(F) and have not made any girlfriends yet so I was honestly thinking of going to a bar / club to mingle but…is it weird to go by yourself?

Hi everyone. I was recently diagnosed with Inattentive ADHD and while there is some sort of relief that I know what the problem is, I am hurt or maybe a better word is disappointed that I feel like I’ve wasted time.

It took me longer than 2 years to transfer to a university for undergrad ( roughly 3-3.5 years ) and while I did significantly better in college, even earning a spot on the deans honor list - I actually didn’t pursue the major I wanted most because I thought I was too stupid to make it. This has led me to rethink all my life choices, career, how I gave up a bit of my dreams during the process and didn’t pursue challenging curriculum even though I wanted to and knew I might possibly struggle. I honestly thought I wasn’t trying hard enough because I lacked focus and discipline even when I was trying my hardest to learn and pay attention.

The fear of failure was always in the back of mine so I tended to stick to what I knew I did best and without friction. Also, my social skills were very quirky and because I didn’t realize why and never knew it fix it, it turned into social awkwardness which has grown immensely to the point where I’m afraid to speak or be myself. I didn’t realize the way I talked to people, the things I said, my little bursts of excitement or even sometimes not talking enough wasn’t normal. And after watching people’s facial expressions and how they’ve reacted to me over the years, it has led to insecurity.

I am now at a point where even though I am diagnosed, I have these habits and oddness that is hard to break. I don’t want it to affect my career, especially being in marketing that I have to know how to talk to executives, VPs and other professionals. Other than that, I want to really excel and be a great professional for myself and those around me.

Any advice on how to handle this process would be greatly appreciated and any tips, books, articles or podcasts that have helped you - please send them my way. I’d love to learn how you all have navigated your diagnosis and how you’ve managed to be successful in your profession and in life, as a neurodivergent.

Thank you in advance

So I recently moved from the west coast to TX and my skin has been breaking out with tiny pimples and small cysts since the first day of my move! I have no idea what to do as my OG skincare routine is not working.

For reference - I have the typical oily t-zone and prior to the move, was not breaking out. I’ve tried oil cleansing followed by a deep cleansing with biore facial soap. I’ve also tried the small size origin skincare cleanser and moisturizer for acne prone skin.

Some of these pimples are tiny and red, and the occasional small cyst around the chin and a few whiteheads.

Any advice on what might be going on? Is it possible my skin type is changing and my old regime is no longer working or is my skin just irritated?

Howdy!

I wasn’t sure whether this was best to post in the CSTAT or Aggies (mainly student focused) thread - but I was wondering if any former or current employees have had experience utilizing A&M’s resources (or if much is available) for someone with ADHD.

I was recently diagnosed in my adulthood after some back and forth as a teen and young adult, so I am new to this. I was hoping someone might have insight to offer or know of any resources A&M offers?

When I say resources, I am mainly looking for mentorship support, training or courses to overcome some of the difficulties that come with ADHD. I understand they could provide workplace accommodations, however I’m looking for something that can provide a long term system or structure to continue excelling in my career here.

Thank you in advance.

Hi y’all! I recently moved to the College Station-Bryan area for a position and would love some recommendations for places to go out and socialize. I am also in my late 20s so I am looking for a bit of an older crowd.😊

I do understand that in this area there are bound to be college students in most places (so there is no escaping that lol). But if there are any friendly bars / lounges or other social spots that are known for having crowds 27+ older, I’d greatly appreciate the input as I’m looking to build new friendships here!

My experience here so far has been great and I’ve enjoyed speaking with the locals, dining out and getting to know the area.

I’m looking forward to getting to seeing more of what this pleasant town has to offer and I appreciate the hospitality and kindness of those I have met!
