I'm re-reading the Twilight series for the first time as an adult, and OH MY GOD i cannot believe i was brainwashed into hating (New Moon era specifically) Jacob when I was a tween reading these books for the first time. From the perspective of someone who has now been through adult relationships and breakups, the relationship between Bella and Jacob in New Moon before Edward enters the picture again is one million times more healthy and healing for Bella than any interaction with Edward previously. Bella says she is completely honest with Jacob ("we didn't have secrets anymore") about her feelings and every time in the early bits of New Moon, he is just so understanding and kind, so unpretentious and caring..... just, ugh. He's almost acting like the partner of someone who is grieving the death of their former partner, if that makes sense? Helping her go thru this huge loss that is basically like a death, while being understanding and willing to wait and see how the relationship develops. It really is beautiful.
Definitely cannot speak on later eras of their friendship as I haven't applied my adult eyeballs to those yet, but I remember it getting pretty hairy later on, LOL.
My mom went into a Sephora store (West Central FL) recently and was just looking to restock an Ilia skin tint that she likes and has been using for a couple years. Just for more info, she's in her mid-40s and she is a very pretty lady with good skin.
She asked an employee for help to find a better shade match since her last bottle wasn't perfect, and the employee told her that those light coverage products "weren't for her" and brought her over to the Mac section to try to sell her a full-coverage foundation.
My mom just left but called me asking me if she was too old to wear light coverage now, and whether she should be covering up her skin more. I'm so upset on her behalf and wondering if anyone else has had experiences like this with Sephora employees? They've always been nice to me, but I'm in my early 20s and I feel like it must be different with different demographics. It's also just super ridiculous to me, because my mom was not asking for a product rec. She already knew what she wanted and just wanted help with her shade. It's not just an accidental rude comment, it's insulting!
