Question on Monotub and Neglectek

Okay so I’m new to this have been reading a lot both here and Shroomery and also YouTube. I think I’ve watched so much stuff that I’ve gotten myself lost in information.

My set up is a 56qt sterilite with 6, 2 inch holes covered in micropore tape. 2 wholes on the width at the top and two holes on each of the longer sides. The lid is gasketed.

I’ve got two tubs going currently and just started two more last night. Both the tubs going started great colonized quickly and then… both seemed to stall. One tub is APE and has been going since the 6th. The other is hillbilly and has been going since the 19th. Neither has pins yet.

I haven’t really fucked around with the hillbilly’s but I haven’t with the ape because there was perfect condensation inside but it seems like too much Co2 everything was starting to look fuzzy. So I propped the lid open a bit but then it seemed like it was drying out. I closed the lid. Humidity came back up but didn’t look like it was getting good FAE again.

I guess my question is everyone says monotubs are set and forget but then everyone talks about introducing fruiting conditions. If Monotub is really set and forget then how/why do you need to introduce fruiting?

I know APE take a long time but I’m at 23 days already and the hillbilly’s will be be 14 days on Friday and I feel like they should be pinning by now too. Room temp is between 68-72 F.

How does my tub look and a general monotub question [medicinal] [technique]

This is my first grow. Put these APEs in the monotub 6/7 and it colonized the substrate nicely but I was getting big round fuzzy balls for primordia. I have read so much and the prevailing consensus seems to be — if you did it right leave the lid on and don’t fuck with it. I thought I did but the fuzzy means not enough FAE right? Initially was opening to fan for like 2-3 days around the end of the first week but then decided I should stop opening the lid because I didn’t have nice humidity (walls and lid had condensation) and after opening the lid that went away. So have left it closed and added a small computer fan on a timer on one of the top holes (2 inch holes). Temp is holding between 69 and 72F. Still looks a bit fuzzy but not as bad as before. Do these look okay and I just need to be patient? Or should I be doing something??

Also I just put some Hillbillies in another tub and they also seem a bit fuzzy and like the mycelium are reaching up. I thought this monotub design with the 6, 2” inch holes and micropore tape should do the trick for FAE but even that tub is looking like it’s already not getting enough FAE.

The lids do lock on and are gasketed so maybe it’s too airtight? Any advice is much appreciated!!

How’s my APE (and a general monotub trouble shooting question)

Do I need to mist APE tub for the right humidity?

First grow. Just transferred to monotub. Using a 54qt sterelite with a gasketed lid. Have filtered 2 inch holes for FAE. Using a pasteurized manure based substrate and it was very moist and I’m using a 2:1 ratio.

I’ve read that APR requires a very high humidity like 90-95%. I don’t have a hygrometer for inside the tub but do have one for the room which I know doesn’t help much since inside the tub is going to be quite different than out.

I can’t seem to find consensus on whether I need to just leave it alone or if I should be opening the tub to mist the side and top of the tub 1-2 times a day.

Question on transferring to Monotub

Can I move the monotub from where I do the transfer to the area where I’ll let it fruit?

My workspace is in my basement but where I’ll let them fruit is upstairs. I’ve got kids so there is a closet in my bedroom that I can lock and is perfect in terms of light, temp and humidity.

Do I need to transfer to the tub in that room or can I do it in the basement and then carry the tub to where they’ll grow? I don’t want to risk contam carrying after I’ve transferred to the tub so can definitely do it in that closet if that’s best but would prefer to transfer in the basement just because I have an easy to clean workspace area down there.

Thank you!!!

Am I ready to Break and Shake?

I know 30% is the rule of thumb but first time in a long time and different technique than I used years ago. Either of these two look ready to go?

Also curious why the growth looks different? Is that the type of mushroom or do I have contam? Blobby fluffy in one and the other is just like fuzzy white coating. Though one or two spots do have more of the blob type appearance.

Thanks!!
