My best friend since middle school accused me of sleeping with her boyfriend and kicked me out

I was living with one of my closest friends, who I’ve known since middle school, for about two years.
About a year into living together, she started dating a guy and he pretty much immediately moved in. Because we had been extremely close for years, we talked about relationships and personal things all the time. She had told me herself that she had trust issues with him and suspected that he was talking/texting other women.
Knowing that, I purposely kept my distance from him. I barely spent time in the common areas, I never had conversations with him beyond basically “hi” and “bye,” and I had absolutely zero interest in this man.
Then one day I came home from vacation and she told me she wanted me to move out.
Her reasoning completely shocked me. She said she had heard noises coming from the basement at some point and somehow convinced herself that I had been hooking up with her boyfriend.
I repeatedly told her that absolutely NOTHING happened. I never touched her boyfriend, flirted with him, had private conversations with him, or had any interest in him whatsoever. I don’t even have this guys number. This was someone I had considered one of my best friends since we were kids, so the accusation was honestly insulting.
What made it even stranger was that she had previously suspected her own cousin of messing around with him too a few months prior.I’ve known her family for years, including the cousin, and even that accusation seemed completely out of left field to me. I honestly should have moved out immediately when she thought this
At that point I felt like her distrust of her boyfriend was starting to spill over onto the women around her.
I moved out within a week and we basically haven’t spoken since.
It’s still one of the weirdest friendship endings I’ve ever experienced, especially considering how many years we were close.
Would you have ended the friendship after an accusation like this? I don’t think I could ever be friends with this person! Beyond disappointed.

Anyone here transition into tech/SaaS from a completely different industry?

I currently work in insurance and I’m looking to transition into tech/SaaS.
For those who successfully made the switch, how did you do it? Did you take any courses or certifications before applying? Are there any free or affordable resources you recommend to learn more about SaaS and the tech industry?
I’d also love to know what helped you land your first role without having direct tech experience.
Any advice or recommendations would be appreciated! 😊

9 years in insurance… looking to pivot into tech or another industry ($100k+)

Hi everyone!
I’m looking for some advice from people who’ve successfully transitioned out of insurance or into a new industry.
I’ve spent the last 9 years with the same insurance company and was recently promoted to Assistant Manager. Throughout my career I’ve built experience in sales, customer service, account management, relationship building, problem-solving, onboarding, and training new employees.
I’ve also spent a lot of time coaching team members, answering questions, helping them learn new processes, and serving as a resource for the team. One of my favorite parts of the job has actually been helping others succeed.
I’m licensed in insurance and have experience using Salesforce as our CRM. My role has been a mix of sales and service, so I’m comfortable juggling multiple priorities, handling difficult customer situations, and building long-term relationships with clients.
I’m ready for my next challenge and would love to transition into tech (Customer Success, Account Executive, Customer Experience, or similar), but I’m also open to other industries with strong long-term growth.
Here’s what I’m looking for:
● $100k+ compensation (or a realistic path to get there)
● Great health benefits
● A stable company with opportunities for advancement
● Base salary (not commission-only)
● A role where I can continue learning and growing
I don’t have a technical degree or direct SaaS experience, but I learn quickly and have built my career by adapting, solving problems, and earning customers’ trust.
If you were in my shoes:
● What roles would you target?
● What industries would you consider besides tech?
● Are there companies that tend to value people coming from insurance?
● Would you focus on Customer Success, Account Management, Sales, Implementation, or something else?
● Are there any certifications or skills that would make me a stronger candidate?
I’m hoping to find a career where I can grow over the next 10+ years, so I’d really appreciate any advice, success stories, or recommendations. Thanks in advance!
