Learning Another Language While Being Dyslexic

If I already struggle with my native language, learning another one is physically exhausting for me.

I study English as a second language, and I’ve made good progress. For example, I understand about 90% of everything I read and hear. But when it comes to writing and speaking, I’m a disaster. Even this text had to go through an AI review to sound better.

Do any of you have techniques or advice that help dyslexic people learn a second language?

Teaching ESL to Dyslexic Adult Learners. Do You Adapt Your Methods?

I’m a student, but I’d like to ask ESL teachers something.

Overall, I learned English fairly well. I understand more than 90% of what I read and hear. However, I still consider myself only intermediate when it comes to writing and speaking (even this text was reviewed by AI to correct simple mistakes).

I’m dyslexic, and I’ve taken classes with different teachers. In the same way that children with dyslexia often need different approaches when learning their native language, I believe teaching ESL to a dyslexic adult may also require different methods. I feel like I’ve reached a plateau and can’t progress further.

Have any of you taught dyslexic adult learners and needed to adapt your teaching methods?

Curious how many online ESL teachers here are actively using AI tools beyond just ChatGPT prompts.

Are you using anything specifically for lesson preparation, tracking student progress, organizing lesson history, CEFR alignment, homework generation, etc.?

Most AI education tools still seem very focused on generating random worksheets, so I’m interested in what teachers are actually finding useful in real teaching workflows.

Lesson Mate is probably worth checking out for anyone already experimenting with AI during lesson prep.

The platform creates complete lesson sequences with reading, listening, grammar, discussion questions, exercises, etc., but the output still feels editable enough to work with instead of feeling locked into AI-generated filler.

It also keeps lessons aligned with CEFR levels and student interests, and the progress tracking section seems genuinely useful for keeping track of student development without needing separate notes/docs everywhere.

It's like something built to reduce prep overload a bit for tutors and online teachers.

Built Lesson Mate AI recently for ESL teachers and tutors already experimenting with AI during lesson prep.

The main goal is basically reducing prep/admin overload a bit for tutors and online teachers.

The idea was to make something a bit more structured than the usual "AI worksheet generator" approach. It creates full lesson sequences with reading, listening, grammar, discussion questions, exercises, etc., while still keeping the material editable enough to adapt to different students and teaching styles.

Lessons can also be aligned with CEFR levels and student interests, and there's a progress tracking section for keeping lesson history and student development notes in one place.

Feel free to check it out: https://www.lessonmate.ai/

Feels more like a practical prep assistant than another "fully automated teaching" tool. More like something built to reduce prep overload a bit for tutors and online teachers.

I’m a 42M (150+ dives) and I really miss diving.

I still have all my gear, but I’ve been out of the water for about 4 years.

Around that time, my finances took a hit. not because of scuba, but because I lost my job and haven’t been able to find a well-paid one since.

It’s been four years without a vacation, so no diving.

I’m starting to feel old...

Can anyone relate? How did you get back into it?
