I have had a Pete Maravich Printing Plate from the 1990 Collegiate Collection, an off-set that makes cards for college teams showcasing the teams alumni, for a long time....it was given to me by my father who worked as a printer machine mechanic. All I know about it is that the set was made by a small company in Louisville, KY, The Collegiate Collection and that the plates used to make all the cards they printed were NOT inserted into packs, were never given out at promotional events, nor sold in bulk or individually. Citing these factors, the only way I can see a plate "escaping" the print company would be by the print machine operator, the staff, or someone else at the company was either given permission to take the plate or it was "borrowed and they forgot to return it." My guess? Well, I will keep my theory to myself.
What I would like is some help in finding others or if anyone knows more ....I also would love to see others...I saw 1 other printing plate from that same set, an LSU football player whose name slips my mind. If anyone has information, I would love to hear it. Thanks.
