Mullvad, ProtonVPN, and IVPN are often recommended because they offer open-source clients across multiple platforms. NordVPN has traditionally been closed source, although I’ve seen that parts of their Linux client were recently made open source.

For people who care about transparency and open-source software, which VPN provider do you think has the strongest overall approach? Also, are there any cases where the open-source version of a VPN client is missing features compared to the closed-source one?
