Help!!! Crankshaft sensor

Hi all,

I’m trying to replace the crankshaft position sensor in my 2006 Nissan Altima.

As you can see I need to remove the connect first in order to get the mounting bolt out. The problem is that I have very little clearance and have to some how push in the green tab while trying to pull out the connector

I’ve tried gripping it with needle nose vise grips, spring clamps, tiny flatheads and nothing wants to work. I’m at a total loss on how to get this darn thing out…

Help.

I got my car (2006 Nissan Altima / 2.5-liter 4-cylinder) scanned not long ago and it I got crankshaft position sensor (planning on fixing this weekend), actuator circuit, and fuel sensor.

Yesterday on my way home from work my car started a little weak and would start sputtering pretty bad. This was my car this morning.

I don’t even know where to begin to figure out the problem. There are no loose hoses. I don’t know anything about cars but am trying to teach myself.

Where do I start?

So I only have a couple years in water damage/mold remediation and recently have a few months working for a high end customer home builder as a craftsman doing just about everything. I’m 25 and very handy and would like to do small side projects for people for extra money. How do I start? I don’t even have a truck

Need Advice

Hi all,

I’d like to preface by saying that I know nothing about cars. But I’m poor so if I can figure out how to fix it myself that’d be ideal.

Recently my 2006 Nissan Altima has been cranking super long and usually doesn’t start up until the 2nd or 3rd try.

I recently did an oil change where right after it worked fine and then 2 hours later my problem started. I got it going and the rest of the week it started on my first go. Late last week, I filled up for gas and the problem started again and hasn’t got better.

I accidentally put 5W-20 instead of 5W-30 during my oil change (I’m new and wanted to try it on my own so I can learn about cars more) is that it? It’s worked fine right after. I checked the EVAP purge valve and no air comes through.

Any ideas on the issue and how to fix??? It cranks normally. Is it the fuel pump?
