VWCE is still the "universal path to wealth" in 2026?

Hello everyone,

I know nobody can give a single accurate answer which predicts the future but I've tried AI to help me analyze the circumstances and the planning that I have and based on that I've requested advice on the best strategy that fits my situation whatsoever.

Facts: S&P500 (VUAA / SXR8 are basically the same according to AI in terms of reliability so it doesn't matter which one I am going to choose?) ; average return 10% per year, more risky

VWCE average return 7-8% per year, less risky

I wrote to AI that my plan is - 2500€-2700€ DCA monthly for a period of 10 years (32-42) and then let it compound.

My point is: Highest % return possible with the least risk.

The options that AI's suggested are the following:

Option 1 (Basic / Most reliable way): 100% VWCE but 5-8% average per year.
Option 2 (Risky way): 100% VUAA / SXR8 = 10% Annual return but riskier
Option 3 (The Gold Standard) : 80% SXR8 / VUAA and 20% VWCE to maximize the profit and balance the risk

My question:
Is option 3 really the best scenario? Am I not going to overlap / tilt in that way? Do you think I should lean on Warren Buffet's quote : "Never bet against America!" and go 100% SXR8 / VUAA?

Im hesitating , feeling confused and not confident enough to make my choice!

I'll appreciate a little bit of clarity.

April – Juni: Einkommensteuererklärung über ELSTER (or Papier) einreichen:
Anlage N-AUS (mit Jaaropgaaf)
Anlage KAP (mit Scalable-Bericht)
Niederländisches Dokument „Einkommenserklärung / C-form“ (Belastingdienst) ausfüllen und alles einreichen.
Danach Termin beim Belastingdienst mit allen Dokumenten + Ansässigkeitsbescheinigung machen.

Über kurzes Feedback würde ich mich freuen! Danke euch!

Exploded at work today. Am I being taken advantage of as an Eastern European, or is this just Dutch work culture?

Hi everyone,

I need some honest perspective from Dutch people and expats who have been here a while. I’m an Eastern European working a blue-collar/production job in the Netherlands(within a small department with 7-8 people and i am the only expat , rest are all dutch) I’ve always been raised with a strong work ethic: work hard, be conscientious, learn new things, and always say "yes" when a colleague asks for help.

Lately, I reached a breaking point. I realized that whenever anyone in the department needs extra help with physical tasks or side duties, they only come to me. There are other colleagues in the team who never get bothered, but I am the designated "go-to guy" for everything extra.

When I finally asked, "Why always me? There are others here," the excuse was always: "Because you work so well, you are fast, you get things done." But the tasks they ask me to do are basic; anyone in the team is fully capable of doing them.

Today, after a year of this without any change, I lost my temper, refused to help a colleague, and hit a piece of furniture out of frustration. Now I have a big meeting with management on Friday.
I feel completely used and honestly, a bit alienated, like I’m being treated differently from the rest because i am foreigner (don't get me wrong i am not trying to play the victim but what else can i think of when out of 7-8 dutch colleagues i am always the "boy" for everything and they never ask each other and are like protective among themselves)

My question to you: Is there a subconscious pattern where Dutch workers exploit the "hardworking Eastern European" mentality because they know we don’t say no? Or are they just setting strict boundaries for their own work, and I am the one who doesn't know how to say "no" and protect my own space?

How do I stop being the team's "yes-man" without becoming the black sheep or a bad colleague?

Thanks.

Unmarried couple (DE residents): How to avoid Schenkungsteuer (Gift Tax) with 50/50 finances & real estate?

Hello everyone and thank you for your time first of all, I hope someone can really help us out.

My partner and I (living in Germany since April 2025, previously Netherlands) need some advice on German gift tax (Schenkungsteuer). We are NOT married, have no intention to marry unless it's the absolute last resort, and want to split everything 50/50.
Since the tax-free allowance for unmarried couples in Germany is only €20,000 every 10 years, we are terrified of accidentally triggering a tax trap. We are planning to see a Steuerberater, but we want to understand our options first.
Our net income: Total: ~€5,308.

Part 1: The Past (2025-2026) – Bulgaria Property Trap?
In 2024, we signed a preliminary contract for an off-plan apartment in Bulgaria (€75,000). Due to a mistake, only my name was put on the preliminary contract.

The Payments: 100% of the installments are paid from my personal bank account (€15k in Jan 2025, €37.5k in Dec 2025, €15k now in June 2026, €7.5k in Dec 2026).

The Catch: To offset this, my partner has been paying 100% of our living expenses (rent, food, bills) in Germany, so I can save 100% of my salary for the construction rates.

The Plan: In 2027, the final notary deed and land registry entry will be made 50/50 in both our names.

Question 1: Will the Finanzamt view her getting 50% of the apartment as a €37,500 "gift" from me, even though she paid for all living costs? Can we backdate a loan agreement (Darlehensvertrag) or offset her living expenses to avoid the tax?

Part 2: The Future Model (From 2027 onwards)
We want to implement a 4-phase system using a joint account (Oder-Konto) at ING Netherlands:

  1. Joint Account: Both salaries go there. All living expenses, plus renovation costs for the Bulgarian flat, are paid from here. (Is paying renovations from a joint account for a 50/50 flat a gift?).
  2. The ETF Surplus: After expenses, we have ~€3,000 left. We want to split this exactly 50/50 into our private accounts to invest in separate Scalable Capital depots (targeting €35k/year total). Note: My salary is ~€244 higher. Does splitting the surplus 50/50 trigger a gift tax for her over time, or is it covered under "living together"?
  3. Gold: We buy physical gold from our private accounts (separate invoices). Safe?
  4. Car Purchase: We want to buy a €35k-€40k car from the joint account, but register it only in my name. Will half of it be considered a gift from her to me? How to avoid this cleanly?

Our Main Questions for the Community:

  1. Is there a way to formalize this 50/50 split cleanly without marriage? Would a Partnerschaftsvertrag (partnership agreement) or forming a GbR legally protect us from the Finanzamt interpreting our split costs as taxable gifts?
  2. If this is a total tax minefield and marriage is truly the only way out: What is the best timing (before or after the 2027 property registry)? We would want a Modifizierte Zugewingemeinschaft (modified community of accrued gains) to keep it 50/50 in a worst-case scenario.
Would love to hear from anyone who has structured their finances similarly as an unmarried couple in Germany! Thanks!

VWCE vs. Invesco vs. SPDR: An objective analysis of hidden risks and fees (Is the "King" losing its crown?)

Hi everyone,
I wanted to bring up a topic that often gets completely glossed over because of the popular "VWCE and Chill" cliché. I did a deep dive into the three main All-World ETFs available in Europe and looked at their actual drawbacks. We often focus strictly on the TER, but there are other critical factors worth worrying about, such as regulatory changes, replication methods, and underlying structural risks.

Here are the hard facts regarding these three funds:

  1. Vanguard FTSE All-World (VWCE) | TER: 0.19%
Con 1 (Price): It is now objectively the most expensive index fund in its class on the market.
Con 2 (Regulatory / ESG Risk): Vanguard has notoriously poor corporate responsibility scores. They famously left the Net Zero asset managers alliance and frequently vote against environmental resolutions to maximize short-term financial returns. Given the tightening regulations in the EU and Germany, this carries a long-term risk of regulatory penalties or even the potential removal of tax advantages (like the Teilfreistellung in Germany) for non-ESG-compliant funds.
Pro: Full physical replication of nearly 3,800 companies. Maximum diversification and unmatched track record.

  2. Invesco FTSE All-World (IE000716YHJ7) | TER: 0.15%
Pro: A direct competitor tracking the exact same index, but noticeably cheaper. It also boasts better alignment with adapting European ESG frameworks.
Con 1 (Technical Risk): It uses "optimized sampling" rather than full replication (holding only around 2,000 to 2,300 companies instead of all 3,800). This introduces a software/model risk where the quantitative matrix might fail to track the market accurately during a severe crisis (Tracking Error).
Con 2 (Credit Risk): To subsidize its lower 0.15% fee, Invesco engages more aggressively in securities lending to third parties, which exposes your capital to counterparty risk if a borrowing institution suddenly defaults.

  3. SPDR MSCI ACWI (IE00B44Z5B48) | TER: 0.12%
Pro: On paper, it is the cheapest all-world product available to European retail investors.
Con 1 (Diversification): It completely excludes Small Caps, holding just over 2,200 large and mid-cap corporations. By entirely missing out on small-cap value, you sacrifice a major historical driver of long-term economic growth.
Con 2 (Internal Inefficiency): Its historical Tracking Difference shows that the fund underperforms its actual index (MSCI ACWI) by an average of about 0.16%. In practice, this structural drag completely eats up the cost advantage of its low 0.12% TER.

What is the consensus, and what is the best move?
Looking through various investment forums, the European investing community seems to be splitting into two distinct camps:

  1. The Math Camp (Pro-Invesco 0.15%): Investors optimizing their portfolios down to the last cent are increasingly switching to Invesco. They argue that the sampling risk is negligible compared to the guaranteed mathematical savings over a 30-year horizon, especially for portfolios exceeding €100,000. They also view Invesco as a more regulatory-resilient asset manager within the EU framework.
  2. The Purist Camp (Pro-Vanguard/VWCE 0.19%): Conservative investors maintain that Vanguard’s premium price is entirely justified. You are buying a "clean" product with minimal securities lending and true ownership of nearly 3,800 global stocks. To them, ESG scores are mostly political noise that will not impact Vanguard’s ultimate ability to generate pure market returns.
What do you think? Does VWCE still remain the safest and most reliable choice for the long run?

VWCE vs. Invesco vs. SPDR:

  1. Vanguard FTSE All-World (VWCE) | TER: 0.19%

  2. Invesco FTSE All-World (IE000716YHJ7) | TER: 0.15%
(Tracking Error).

  3. SPDR MSCI ACWI (IE00B44Z5B48) | TER: 0.12%

Dental technician in The Netherlands - Overview?

Hello everyone,
I am living in Gronau and working in Hengelo (specifically looking at the Overijssel region) to work as a dental technician (tandtechnicus). I am a foreigner and trying to map out what to expect realistically before making the jump.
I’d love to get some insight from people in the field or locals who know the current job market.

My Background & Experience:
My experience is somewhat limited to the preparation stages. I haven’t done complex ceramic layering (porcelain) or full prosthetics yet. However, I am fully competent in the critical steps before that, including:
Plaster pouring and model casting from impressions
Articulator mounting (inclusion)
Wax-ups (wax modeling) and press-ceramic wax-ups
Flasking/investing (muffles and cuvettes)
Basic metal adjustment/finishing
Custom trays (individual spoons) and bite registrations
My Questions:
1 Starting Salary for "Prep Only" Skills: Given that I mostly do prep work and models, what is a realistic gross starting salary in Overijssel?
2 Salary Ceiling & Averages: What is the actual salary ceiling (cap) for a dental technician in NL if I eventually master CAD/CAM or high-end aesthetics? lowest - average - highest? I am asking because I am doubting between to continue my career as a dental technician or to switch to QA engineer.
3 The AI & Automation Impact: How hard is AI and 3D printing hitting the prep and model phase in Dutch labs right now? Are digital impressions and model-less cases wiping out the need for physical prep techs, or is there still solid demand?
4 Why is the pay relatively low? Compared to other fields requiring higher or specialized education, dental tech seems to have a lower wage growth curve. Why is that the case in NL? Is it due to lab competition, or insurance capping the technical costs?
5 Pros & Cons of the region/job: What are the pros and cons of working as a dental tech in the Overijssel area (Enschede, Hengelo, Zwolle, etc.) regarding cost of living vs. salary?
I’m trying to evaluate if this profession is worth pursuing long-term in the Netherlands or if the digital shift makes it a dead-end for someone who doesn’t do high-end porcelain/clinical work yet.

Thanks in advance for any insights!

Beginner investor here, will do 100% VWCE. As the title states - is there anything that I should take care of or the things are as simple as - create Scalable Capital broker --> invest "X" amount DCA to VWCE --> forget.

What about tracking my investments?

Thanks!
