Hello from a newbie

Hello everyone!

Received my AT starter set box this morning after deliberating for about a year on whether I needed another system in my life. This sub/community also seems a lot friendlier than other wargaming spaces which was a contributing factor so I hope I've not been too naive there 😅

Having given 40K a miss the last few editions and also not kept up to date with KT, I was wondering whether AT or LI was the way to go. Decided on AT as I thought the style of play was interesting, as well as the model count being lower...not to mention having the option to extend to LI and keep these models relevant was another win.

It'll be a few weeks before I can dedicate time to start building and painting, but looking forward to it!

I'll mostly be playing the game with my wife (she doesn't know that yet 😉) and friends that visit, so I'm in no rush to complicate life with unit/tactics FAQs/expansions before I've given the core rules a run through.

Having said that, is there anything in the core rules that's fundamentally flawed/game-breaking that is fixed in FAQs to a player with 0 experience or knowledge that isn't looking at playing outside of their home right now?

Thanks! 😁

(Included rulebook picture because I can't pay pretty titan model tax just yet)

Found my 20yo+ Marlin Explorer

I found my first ever explorer! I've had this for well over 20 years now.I think it still has the original strings on it 🤣

Anyone else ever owned one of these? Can't find anything on the internet about them, and this was well after Marlin stopped being sold in UK catalogs etc. I don't remember it being especially playable even back then, but I might tidy it up and give it a play!

The camo Rockstar sticker was something the game studio sent 17 yo me in the post along with a rejection letter for a job application back in 2004. The "Killzone" sticker was free with a PS2 magazine!

Ahhhh, memories.

Ngd! MoP LTD

We took a detour on the way home from the Metallica show in London on Sunday at about 1:30am (with my very tired wife's permission) to pick this beauty up. Thankfully the seller was watching the World Cup, so if you're on here thanks mate!

This is #20/400.

Old M-II Custom Order Forms

Howdy!

I know I've definitely seen a website that hosted PDF versions of past ESP catalogs (ESP Japan even have a few themselves in their download section), but I'm trying to specifically find a blank M-II Custom Order Form from 1992/3, with a matching price list.

All I can seem to find are scans of partially obscured filled in forms, but no price lists. (Guitar-compare dot com)

I know I've seen these somewhere before, but I'll be damned if I can find them.

Can anyone help a brutha out?

Muchas gracias

Stain matching on okoume and maple

Hi all! First post here.

As the title suggests, I'm looking for any tips/tricks on being able to "match" stains as closely as possible between a maple neck and okoume body. I'm wanting an all over dark cherry type finish similar to SG specials. I'll more than likely be using Crimson Guitars or StewMac stains.

I'm new to the world of guitar finishing (and woodwork in general), but I am aware that the density of the 2 woods is completely different, and I'll have to do a little more work on the neck as it's already "factory finished" with sealer etc. (Any tips on that would also be greatly appreciated)

For the stain matching, my instinct would be to first get both of the woods similar in colour and sealing BEFORE adding the final stain to avoid drastic changes. (I'm an artist by trade, so this process is my go to in other media). This is presuming all of the wood is prepared correctly beforehand.

Would this be a sensible approach? I'm not sure where I could get comparitive samples of these woods; and in all honesty it's a kit guitar I purchased for £85 so I'm not too precious, if this all goes wrong I can just strip back and give it a solid colour with a poly finish.

Thanks for reading the wall of text!

Cheers!

Hi all.

I think it's time to get the frets on my ESP looked at, and generally a little service and set up to bring the guitar back to its best.

Can anyone recommend a decent tech/Luthier in the North Wales area of the UK? (Liverpool and Manchester way)

Thanks very much!
