I just read Batman: Night Cries. Wow.

What an underrated and under mentioned Batman story. Easily a top ten Batman story for me and an excellent read along with gorgeous art.

Such a heavy and dark story dealing with a very dark and serious subject but handled in a delicate but meaningful way. After reading the last page it seemed like the whole weight of the book finally gave way and collapsed on me.

This wasn’t a story meant to “break the Bat” like so many other modern Batman stories try to do but I will say that by the end of it Batman is more broken than he is in most of those other aforementioned stories.

Some nice twists and turns throughout and paired with outright paintings as the art of this book. I can’t recommend it enough but look into first and understand it is a very heavy and horrifying subject matter.

Very very well done. Congratulations Archie Goodwin and Scott Hampton.

If you’re a Batman fan then you need to read this and this book should be on every Batman story list.

Needing help finding a Batman comic from my childhood.

It was the 90’s but I couldn’t tell you when, I want to say early to mid? My mom bought it for me and I read through it while she shopped for groceries. It was my first comic that I can remember. And I might be misremembering but this is what’s in my mind: I don’t know what Batman title it was but I remember Batman was out of town, no Batman in Gotham, I don’t know where he was but the Joker had planted a bomb in the city and the police are trying to take him down without Batman. From what I remember on the cover is a big, oversized bomb with Joker’s hand reaching over the top of it and his long nails scratching the bomb I think? And a Joker card on the bottom in a pool of blood. Maybe Joker’s hand is dipping or pulling the card out of the blood. I believe Gotham City is in the background. Thank you. Been searching for a while and have come up empty.

DC KO thoughts? I know I’m late, I just read it

What did you all think of DC KO? I’ve heard opinions about not looking how big it is and while I agree that I would like an event that’s a little smaller in scope and close to the ground, I still have to say I had fun with this story. It’s not perfect and there are some things I would’ve done differently but I enjoyed it overall for what it is. And the Absolute Trinity entering the tournament is so cool. The attached picture is my favorite cover. Just gives me chills.

Edit: I kinda figured it wasn’t well received, at least on Reddit, I don’t know about the critics and readers as a whole, and I do agree with a lot of your points. Red Hood should’ve definitely beat Joker and they did Hawkman dirty by not even giving him a one round win against Aquaman. I do wish there was more unpredictability in the brackets, a lot of choices did seem pretty “safe” and “status quo” but I did still enjoy it overall. It’s always nice to hear what other’s think though so thanks for sharing.

Just a reminder that Bill Finger is The (Bat)Man.

It’s a shame he never got the credit he deserved while he was alive but I’ll keep giving him the credit he deserves while I’m alive. Watching the two episodes he wrote for the Adam West Batman series. Thank you Bill, for all that you’ve given us with Batman.

Edit: possible artist for this piece, Paul Roman Martinez. Anyone know for sure who the artist is let me know.
