Photographing a friend in cosplay.

This portrait came from one of those fun unexpected moments. A couple of friends asked if I’d be interested in photographing them in their cosplay, and we ended up making some images together. I can’t remember which video game inspired this character, but I really liked in this photo the sense of quiet introspection and strength they brought to it. I hope that comes through in the portrait. Hope you like it.

Creative portrait project:

Hi! I’m a portrait photographer based in the Triangle area looking to collaborate with a model interested in creating something a little different. I enjoy building concepts together with enthusiastic collaborators rather than just checking off a shot list, exploring styles from whimsical and cinematic portraits to urban fashion, punk-inspired looks, latex, swimwear, and other creative ideas. It’s important to me that Every shoot is collaborative, with styling discussed and agreed upon beforehand.
You don’t need Experience, just a willingness to be comfortable in front of the camera and experiment creatively. I’m happy to provide references from previous models, and you can browse examples of my work below. If you think we’d be a good fit, send me a message and let’s create something memorable!

What some people see vs what I see

Here are a couple shots from a visit to AO Glass in Burlington, Vermont. I included an iPhone photo of the back of my camera because I thought it was fun to show the composition in-camera and how close it was to the final image. The second photo is the finished shot.

Introduction and a B&W close crop portrait

Hey everyone Ira here, I figured I’d introduce myself with one of my older portrait shots.

I’m primarily a portrait photographer based in North Carolina and a lot of my work leans toward editorial. But I am drawn to projects that blur the line between fashion, fantasy, human connection and empowerment.
This image was part of an early phase where I was really learning how to shape light and create atmosphere with pretty minimal gear.

I Shot this in black and white because I liked how it simplified the composition and pushed more attention toward expression, contrast, and texture.

Always open to feedback and looking forward to checking out everyone’s work too! Thanks
