Radio Jobs

If this is not the correct community for this type of post, please direct me to the proper one.

I am a British citizen who has spent the entirety of my working career (last 27years) in Canadian Radio. I have worked as a audio producer/engineer in Toronto, Niagara Falls, and currently as the head of Imaging for 13 stations from Windsor to London (Canada).

I'm exploring the possibility of moving back to the UK to be near my parents as they are aging, and have some questions about getting into the industry there.

In Canada, there are 2 main job boards that serve the broadcasting industry. (Milkman Unlimited, and Broadcast Dialogue). Is there something similar for the UK?

In Canada there are 3 major players (Bell, Rogers, Corus), a few mid size companies (Stingray, Vista, MyBroadcasting, Pattison etc), small operators (Blackburn, Evanov, etc) and then many many independents... I spent some time over the weekend looking into British, companies, and it seems all the FM stations are owned by the BBC, Global, and Bauer. Is this all there is??

If anyone has any advice as to where I should start, it'd be most appreciated.

Disclosure Day feels like a misleading title. 6/10 *potential spoilers*

So first off, I don't hate this movie. It has many issues, but in the end.. It's still not bad..

First of all, you'd think this movie is about the world coming to grips with the revelation that we are not alone. But that's not what the movie is about at all. Yes the ending of the movie is technically disclosure day, but the movie itself is like a supernatural version of "Enemy Of The State"

The CGI is bloody awful. Why? Apple TV shows have more convincing cgi. And some of the uses of cgi are completely avoidable. The car driving through the house, could have been done. The car and the train could have been done practically too. The alien at the end would have been better as an animatronic. Why use cgi unless you're going to make it the best it can be. Are we saying Spielberg didn't have the budget? The animals were laughable.

What was with all the lens flare and glare? Felt sloppy.

North Korean soldiers have cell phones? Their cell phones have American internet feeds? They use those cell phones while being on active deployment in the midst of starting ww3? Yeah no....

Magic crystals that do whatever you want them to do? This is just lazy writing. Want to project consciousness? Crystal. Want to be invisible? Crystal. Need emergency phantom electricity? Crystal. Lazy.

And finally, had this movie been made 10 years ago, the ending would have been more believable (aside from the soldiers on phones). The world would be in awe. Astounded. But in present day, 60% of people would be screaming fake news, claiming the liberal media is trying to undermine their God, claiming Kubrick filmed it, and another 20% would say it's all AI generated. So while it did still evoke a moment of somewhat awe in the theater, the second the movie ends, the illusion disappears.

And speaking of the ending.. It just ends. As the disclosure day arrives, it's over.

It still felt like Spielberg magic, or at least close to it. But it has issues. Some of them major. Concept was good. Acting was good. Overall, not awful, but nowhere close to close encounters, war of the world's, or even A.I. 6/10.

90s action flicks with no NA Blu release

I've got a growing list of movies I remember genuinely enjoying back in the day on TBS or Spike etc, that have never received a blu ray release in North America and I can't see why! Sure they're not masterpieces of cinema, but they are solid brainless entertainment and I'd love to see what else people are hoping for when it comes to unreleased 90s action!

Ricochet (Denzel Washington, 1991)

Hollow Point (John Lithgow, 1996)

On Deadly Ground (Steven Seagal, 1994)

Live Wire (Pierce Brosnan, 1992)

Dessert Heat (Jean Claude Van Damme, 1999)

Hitman (Chuck Norris, 1991)

Fire Down Below (Steven Seagal, 1997)

PS I know some of them have overseas releases or perhaps in another language, but nothing in the US/Canada... If I'm mistaken, let me know! And if anyone has any incite as to when they might be released, or who has the rights to them, please share!
