Help Finding the Radio 1 Mark Radcliffe show from September 2002

Hi all

I’m trying to find a recording of the Mark Radcliffe and Lard Show from 13/09/2002

Does anyone happen to have it, or know where I might be able to find it?

I’d really appreciate any help!

Thanks!

Is contemporary BBC Radio 4 comedy losing its satirical edge compared to legacy archives?

I’ve been diving deep into old British comedy archives on BBC Sounds lately, listening to classic runs of The News Quiz and Dead Ringers from a decade ago. When I tune into the current Friday night comedy block, it feels like the writing has shifted from sharp, institutional satire into a much safer, predictable form of observational humor. Is this a symptom of the BBC trying to avoid modern "culture war" grenades from the press, or has the talent pool for sharp political radio writing simply migrated over to the independent podcast market?

The East Light: Listen to the natural sounds of Northern Ireland's Rathlin Island and its East Lighthouse recorded when Margot McCuaig visited. She tells us that generations of her family come from Rathlin and her parents are buried there. Also hear how the lighthouse had to be wound-up regularly!

Jordan North and Sian Welby landing Toy Story 5 cameo roles is actually pretty cool

I didn’t expect Capital Breakfast to end up in the Toy Story universe but fair play to them. Jordan voicing Garden Gnome and Sian playing an Inflatable Flamingo feels very random in the best way. Nice seeing radio presenters getting these opportunities outside broadcasting too.

Any late-night radio recommendations for winding down?

I’ve been listening to Radio 3 Unwind a lot lately, but I’m looking to branch out a bit. Does anyone have a favourite late-night station or show for peaceful background listening? I’ve tried the usual Mellow Magic and Classic FM Smooth Classics, but I’d love to find something a bit less obvious, maybe a local DAB station or a smaller digital channel with a really chilled late-night presenter.

Ulysses on BBC radio with Andrew Scott

Does anyone know how I (NYC, NY) can listen to this radio adaptation of Ulysses? I heard bits of it, and it's brilliant, but I'm having trouble finding the entire production. Grateful for any insight on this. Thanks.

Richie Anderson presenting all request Fridays for Sarah Cox, save me now

He's got the personality of a wet flannel , feels fake and he's trying way too hard. Good look to the guy but I would hate if he took over permanently, I felt second hand embarrassment just listening to him.

Last Chance to See ('89). Mark Carwardine and Douglas Adams are looking for endangered species in remote locations and raising public awareness before it's too late. Like The Hitchhiker's Guide it was a radio series before it was a book. In e1 they're in New Zealand's fiords looking for a Kākāpō.

Modern breakfast radio has way too much talking and not enough music

Feels like every breakfast show now is constant features, fake banter and celebrity clips. Sometimes I just want songs, quick news updates and someone who doesn’t sound like they’ve had six coffees. Anyone else gone off breakfast radio a bit lately?

Is The Witch Farm one of the best things on BBC Sounds?

I’ve just finished The Witch Farm and Danny Robins has absolutely nailed the atmosphere again. The sound design is incredible, if you haven’t listened with headphones yet, you’re missing out. Does anyone else find this investigative documentary style way more effective than a standard full-cast drama? Also, I saw the TV adaptation was officially greenlit last month. Apparently it’s filming in Wales right now. Do we think a visual version can actually capture the same dread the audio drama manages?
