I had planned to get the K originally- but is it worth nearly double the X?

It’s good! It replaced a Darkglass Vintage Microtubes. The bias control is great, allowing you to control where the breakup happens in the frequency spectrum.
I’ve had a QAcoustics 7000i for about a decade.
I’d like to upgrade but can only do part at a time.
I’m thinking of starting with the centre. How much of a difference would replacing my 7000 series centre to a Q3090c make? Would we notice a significant difference?
How about a 5090?
Would these integrate with my setup ok?

I’m doing a home theatre set up and running cables through my walls.
I’ve ordered these keystone speaker connectors to make up some wall plates.
The “front” / external post is obviously a banana plug or wire through the post and screw down.
What about the rear/ in wall post? Is solder the only option for this?
