Hello everyone!, I’m 19 from Ontario Canada. I want to share my story on how this process has been for me. So I apologize if this is long winded.
At 14 I was in DKA, as the doc put days away from death. I was treated as a type 1 was on fast and long acting insulin. I did antibody testing to determine if I did have type 1. And it came back that I wasn’t granted this was years ago now so I don’t remember fully the numbers.
After that I was told by paeds that they were going to treat me as a type 1 but that I was actually a type 2.
I was still taking insulin. My sliding scale was up to 30u long acting and various for short acting. I stared to decrease my insulin with paeds and eventually got down to a low dose of both but than needed to reup it.
Once I turned 18 I saw an adult diabetic doc who I don’t think is an endo but she said that my numbers and a1c were great and that I needed to decrease but I actually wasn’t taking any insulin!.
I’ve only recently found out that I may have mody because my primary care doc put that in for health conditions for a college specific medical form. I’ve still yet gotten genetic testing to see exactly what type of it I have.
I’m hoping to find others around my age who have experienced it. I’d like to meet people with this apparently rare form of diabetes!.
Hello everyone, I’m an incoming student this fall and I know that I will be needing the accessibility services, but I’m not sure exactly how the process works. I’ve checked the page on Fanshawe‘s website about it. Does anyone have experience who’s done a program downtown, in terms of timing before classes and how that works. If I need to go to the main campus or not when needing help?.
P.s I apologize if my question is a little bit all over the place
Hello everyone, as the title states I want to make sure this is correct. I’ve seen the email that Fanshawe sent about my first term tuition. But I wanted to double check that it is the 21st of September and that’s the final deadline to submit payment?. I have the money in my savings, but I wanted to double check.
Hello, apologies for the long backstory.
so for context in 2021 I was diagnosed with type 1 I was in DKA at 14. I did the antibody testing and didn’t meet the type 1 requirements. Around 2022 I was told I was type two but being treated like a type one (I was taking insulin).
I’m 19 now and I just found out I have MODY. I found out randomly because I needed a medical questionnaire filled from my GP for a college bursary, saw that I have MODY.
It’s strange because since diagnosis my GP has been adamant that I’m type one. But as of the last few months without my adult diabetes endo knowing I haven’t been taking my insulin. But my bs has been really well and my A1c from a year ago shows 5.6. So it’s safe to say I don’t need insulin. I last saw my endo last month and she thought I was still taking my insulin but I wasn’t though my blood sugar has been good probably too good because she said I should cut back on my insulin.
Anyway now you have the backstory how should I go about asking my doc about the genetic testing for the specific type of MODY I have?.
Also here’s my Dexcom reading for the last 24 hrs it was Mother’s Day and I had quite a bit of carbs.
This is a picture of my buttocks. These purple spots have been there since I was 10 or so I’m 19 now.. they’re hard and sore to the touch.
The other photo is the lip of my vagina. I have scaly itchy skin on the front of my vag too.. there’s been times I’ve itched to the point of drawing blood. My genitals have been so itchy no matter how much I shower, wipe ect. It makes me feel so self conscious… I’ve been to ashamed and embarrassed to show my primary care doc.
I apologize if this seems like a dumb post.
I’ve never had acne itch like crazy and this much it’s been itchy for the last 20 mins. Any idea why?, I’ve never had much acne on my inner thighs before. I just noticed on both legs how much acne I have. Any tips?
