Anyone else have a background that doesn’t suggest a love of spicy food?

My ethnic heritage is mainly Norwegian, Polish, Slovak, and Welsh. I was born and raised in the upper Midwest of the United States. It makes no sense that I believe the spicier the better, always always always. Anyone else?

Naz Reid on IG: Thank you for showing me love from day one and making this place feel like home. I came here with an opportunity and a lot to prove, and the support I felt from the start helped me grow both as a player and as a person.

Places you enjoyed but feel uncomfortable saying you enjoyed it

Title may be confusing, couldn’t think of a more articulate way to phrase it. I’ll explain it by giving my example: Phnom Penh, Cambodia. We spent a day going to Tuol Sleng, which was a Khmer Rouge prison and torture center, now a museum. From there we went to Choeng Ek, the largest of Cambodia’s many killing fields, and now a national park. I studied history in college, I’m a history nerd. I was horrified by everything I saw and learned that day, but I can’t say it wasn’t super interesting. This was in 2004, which means it was only 25 years after the fall of the Khmer Rouge. Which added an extra degree of horror.

Are any of you from a traditional beer producing country, but you actually like terrible American beer?

Full disclosure: I’m an American who loves shitty light American beer. I’m just curious if anyone from countries like Germany, Czechia, and the UK also developed a taste for it?

And a quick, halfhearted defense of what we have the nerve to call light“pilsner” beer: When it’s ice cold, it’s amazing with really spicy food. Some people say seafood as well.

How about flaked coffee?

Someone recently asked about percolator coffee, which I’ve never had, but it reminded me of this picture I took in an antique/vintage store. I’m wondering if anyone here has tried it.
