Getting above Diamond

I asked the main sub a couple of weeks ago. The main feedback I got about which rank requires one to have teammates they play with over just random players was the rank right above Diamond. I've been playing about a month now and for the life of me I cannot get passed DIII solidly. I'll hit DIV then get several bad games where nobody plays together, and its just a slaughter. Then I'll get a handful of competent games where everyone is in sink and I get back to DIV. Its just been up and down for over a week now. Am I really going to have to get good enough to be able to carry myself every game at this rank?

How is everyone feeling about this update?

I love how the main complaint you see about this game is lack of defensive options. It’s like the community cries out constantly that damage is too high and there are so many neutral skips that zoning is not really even an option. So what does Capcom do? Release an update increasing offense and giving characters like Ryu more mix up options! wtf! Kimberly can get three bombs now? Dumb!

Granted I only played a couple of hours so far, but I really enjoyed the game until last night. I had almost no complaints. It was just SF6 and that was how it played… nah, this is trash! What a dog shit update, IMO. Might be sitting this season out.

Halo is so fun!

I downloaded infinite Monday night, spent about 4 days playing ranked arena. Switched to slayer last night after some frustrating games. Just hit diamond today. Just wanted to post a few clips, the triple and quad kill still allude me in slayer. Having more fun than I thought I would. Outside of one really toxic game where my teammate threw on purpose because he beat me the game prior and didn't want to play with me apparently, its been super fun so far.

That moment of panic when your hands take over.

A game from a win steak I hit to GM today. I've never practiced this combo. Never even done it once in battle or in training. It literally just came out when I saw the low hit. I even yelled, "NOOOOO," when I did it. Lol

Whoop! 2 Phases hitting GM now. Lets get it!

Hit GM right at the end of last phase. I've gotten super close 1690+ several times this phase, and finally broke through again. I honestly don't even care if I ever get to UGM, GM is place I can be content in hitting. Though I've really been contemplating getting a coach for a month. A streamer I follow gives light coaching on Sundays, and just from the few very short lessons I always notice a huge improvement. TBD I guess, lol.

A few things I've noticed as I continue to practice are I'm getting better at quickly recognizing player habits and tendencies. Like when they like to jump or neutral jump, or which block stings they like to use and when to interrupt, followed by knowing what the counter play is.

Combos are cool and all, they feel so nice to land clean in battle. But for the most part I've noticed its better to keep it simple 90% of the time. No need to be flashy. Being consistent is way more important. Most of the time an OD special over a DRC will result in as much or more damage with less meter used. Don't burn out unless it kills, or you are super confident you have enough life to get locked down and smashed into the wall, then hit with a super. If you don't have that much life, don't burn out just to get a little more damage. No point if it gets you killed. I used to try to continue pressure if I was low on meter or close to burn out because I was already on offense, I've learned recently its better to back off just a second to gain meter back rather than take the chance of burning out once you lose your turn.

Don't get upset at loses, just sit back a moment and try to think of something that you got hit doing or a scenario in the game you think there was something better you could have done. Take a few minutes and go into replay take over and lab it. Just build on your game play one building block at a time, instead of queuing over and over, take an extra few minutes to learn where you can improve in match ups. Sometimes I don't even know off the top of my head where I could have done better. I just go into take over and look. Something almost always presents itself. I am content with GM, but that doesn't mean I will not continue to strive to improve and be better. That is part of what makes this game fun. Seeing the improvement over time is a great feeling.
