Best natural supplements for lowering BP

The ones I know of off the top of my head:

Hibiscus tea, hawthorn berry, beetroot, garlic extract, olive leaf extract, nattokinase.

Any others?

Did those I list work for you or those you know?

I need to help a family member get off amlodipine, which is causing mental issues to spiral.

Family member has personality changes on amlodipine

They are increasingly unstable and hostile.

Has anyone else experienced this directly or indirectly with amlodipine?

Doing a quick search, I found:

"Users on Reddit forums frequently report that amlodipine caused severe mental health issues, including anxiety, depression, panic attacks, and suicidal thoughts. Many individuals describe feeling "like they were dying" or experiencing intense dread, with some noting that symptoms persisted for months even after discontinuing the medication."

I'm guessing those affected by those effects are increasingly difficult to be around?

I can't seem to convince them to stop the amlodipine. They assert they don't care about psychological effects, just getting their BP down. The behavior clearly is worse than it has previously been. I wouldn't say they went from an angel to a demon, but the drug seems to have exacerbated underlying pathology.

I don't know what to do except stay away from them as much as possible. I thought they were doing quite well mentally and psychologically before starting the amlodipine.

Also, their BP went up after starting the amlodipine. Systolic BP, tested at the doc's office, was 160 before starting it and last tested 177 in the same office. Is that very unusual?

My own experiences - when I have experienced bullying

All the times I experienced any bullying was when I was struggling in some way with some facet of life and it was outwardly apparent. I was presenting as wounded and that's what attracted the bullying.

For me anyway, just getting adequate sleep and being content and happy kept away any bullying and toxicity.

One contact from an exceptionally rich family allegedly was badly bullied at school, and in that case I liken it to being too different.

You have to generally fit in with those around you to avoid being singled out.

Anyone else wish to chime in?

Are Catholic schools more free of bullying and toxicity?

I went to Catholic schools where mean girls and other toxicity really didn't exist. I'm wondering if the Catholic nature of those schools had anything to do with it. Social status, economics, and other such things also didn't matter.

Maybe the Catholicism had nothing to do with it, but I do wonder.

Any others wish to chime in?

Edit: forgot to add my high school had a uniform intended to reduce distractions and differences between the students. I think that was a positive factor.

Olive Leaf Extract & Aged Garlic vs Amlodipine

I read:

  • Olive Leaf Extract: Clinical studies using 500 mg twice daily show systolic reductions averaging roughly 11.5 mmHg.
  • Kyolic Aged Garlic Extract: Clinical meta-analyses demonstrate systolic reductions averaging roughly 8.3 mmHg.

What do you think about a combo as such replacing 5 mg of amlodipine?

I posted the same to r/hypertension and the post was immediately removed by the moderators. That makes me think there is deliberate censorship because I'm a good faith poster just trying to best aid a family member. The post lasted just a few seconds before it was removed, like they are always on guard to prevent any discussion of these natural tools.

Amlodipine at 5 mg:

"Frequently lowers systolic blood pressure by 10 to 15 mmHg in hypertensive patients."

OLE and AGE are healthy and don't cause the nasty side-effects many report on amlodipine, so what benevolent reason is there for not favoring them?

Calcium channel blockers inquiry

So, we commonly block the calcium channels to lower BP.

Why does the body want the calcium we are using the drug to block, and what are the effects of intervening as such besides often lowering the BP?

Here's a comment I read:

"My doctor who saved my life a decade ago said, and I quote "I hate amlodipine. It's only good thing is to lower numbers. Nothing else." and suggested I stay on candesartan only. I will update the results as I do it. :)"

What is meant by that? The BP gets lower but nothing actually has improved? What do you think of that MD's decision to choose candesartan over amlodipine?

Beta blockers vs calcium channel blockers

Please share your experiences with these two classes of drugs. Have you had better experiences with the one or the other?

What is the downside of treating hypertension with beta blockers vs calcium channel blockers?

I see too many horror stories of side-effects from calcium channel blockers like amlodipine.

Why are doctors sometimes choosing amlodipine over beta blockers? How is it superior?

The Satan and Christ Paradigm

What do you think of the Christian paradigm where some have natures from Satan and others are children of God?

Many good narc channels align narcissist natures with Satan, which explains why they are in some kind of bizarrely confusing spiritual war against those with Christ natures.

Thoughts?

Behavior is not improving

No matter how much I try to be heard, and to communicate my needs, and how disrespectful and abusive the behaviors have been, I see no positive changes. If anything, the abusive behaviors are intensifying.

Has anyone else experienced or read about anything of the sort?

The favored tactic has been refusing to communicate aka stonewalling. Not being able to have a voice is painful and I have said so as clearly as I have known how. The stonewalling is not getting any better.

I have shown care, respect, love, and on and on. I have received disrespect, neglect, insults, stonewalling.

Why?

They are generous financially, but in every other way loveless and disappointing. I go from being calm, happy, positive, optimistic to feeling like the life has been sucked out of me when I experience more of their treatment.

What kind of condition is this that behaves as such?
