The most Berlinish döner

Hi guys! My mom is visiting Berlin for the first time and I was thinking of a perfect introduction to Berlin Döners. Something very classical, without any extra spins, twists and special sauces — something almost generic. And very importantly, in a triangular brot. But at the same time, with very high quality of ingredients, especially the meat.

I know a lot of good kebab places, but most of them kind of taste like “kebab from place X” whereas I’m looking for a kebab just tasting like the Berlin kebab. I had Haci baba in Xberg on my mind, but not so sure about it.

Any help will be appreciated!

Very common combo in my region of Ukraine, super rare otherwise

You could assume that Hungary has a lot of naturalised Ukrainian immigrants because of it’s proximity. But most people who go there for work struggle with the language and at some point move back home or to Western Europe. But with the war a lot of families moved to Hungary so the number of Ukrainian-Hungarian dual nationals should rise in the following years.

Meanwhile in Transcarpathia (westernmost region of Ukraine) there is a big Hungarian ethnic minority and since 2010 we ale eligible for reparation after proving our descent and knowledge of Hungarian.

Golt’z, Berlin Charlottenburg

On the pricey side by Berlin standards, 9€ + 1€ for the Käse. Also since it was Friday night I had to wait 20 minutes for it, but fortunately they give you a number so you don’t have to stand in the line.

But oh boy was it worth it. The best kebab I’ve had in Charlottenburg. Everything was spot on. The salad had nice acidity, the sauces and the meat were not too greasy. The meat was nicely caramelised, even a bit crispy on some pieces. The bread is barely seen on the picture, but it was slightly different from what you usually get (in a good way) super crispy, great taste and was holding everything together so well.

If you’re in Charlottenburg definitely check it out at least once. Order the kebab and go drink a beer at the Späti across the road to kill some time.

I think I’ve read about this guy in this sub. It was so nice to get this little thing from him today. Does anyone know his social media or something?

How is the RSO door for 4+ people groups at the door? Never went there with more than 2 friends, but now we have a group of five (3M, 2F) on Saturday around 8-9pm. From your experience, are the bouncers ok with groups of this size? Maybe arriving earlier helps? Or splitting into two groups is inevitable?

P.s. sorry, I know it’s another stupid club door policy. I just have friends visiting from abroad and I really feel responsible for making sure they have a good time. Thank you for your understanding 🙏

After my nice trip to Spain, this monster was waiting for me on my way home in this grey weather. I really regretted moving to Berlin when I was taking this picture.
