This is my shallow nano tank I put together from two tank break downs from another hobbyists and one of mine.

The tank is Petco’s 6.8 gallon Imagitarium shallow (20”x12”x8.5”). They are fairly cheap at 40$ before tax and I like the shallow look .

The light I’m currently using is a Fzone Nano light but I ordered a twin star s series gen v 18”-22”that will arrive on Wednesday. I wasn’t happy with the dark areas on the right side of the tank due to lack of spread and after seeing tigahboys tanks I was sold on the twin star lighting option and ordered one with customizable spectrum that would cover the entire tank .

For filtration and flow I’m using the sicce nano shark pro 250gph I am surprised at the amount of water the little filter can move. There is visible flow around the entire tank but I can see potential dead zones under the arches . I will probably add a small wave maker on the back wall of the tank to deter stuff settling under the rock work. There is nothing special in the filter but I have room to run carbon and purigen along with a sponge or poly fil for that crystal clear water we all strive for.

I’m using a Petco heater and a glass lid to deter from using an Ato but I may add one anyway I have both a gravity fed and optical one I can use.

There is a few different zoas, palys , mushrooms , gorgonians, and leathers threw out the tank along with some different species of caleurpa that has yet to take off.

This is an invertebrate only tank with the main star being a neogonodavtylus Wennerae who you can see if you look close enough. Having him in there makes any other invertebrates a risk but right now there is an abundance of blue leg hermits , some stomatellas , limpets , and a very elusive elephant slug that only comes out at night .
Contemplating adding a small damsel or orchid dotty back for some consistent movement and added interest.

I’m excited to see how this tank looks in a couple of months so far so good!

Thinking about making it a sps tank will the single ai prime suffice for low level sps ?

Utilitarian fish for nano ?

I only want one or two fish right now I’m thinking about a wrasse or a dotty back supported by a tail spot blenny . I want the main fish to be pest control, I can

Bare bottom or heavy sand ? I’m tempted to do bare bottom so I can deliver as much flow as I want but every bare bottom I’ve started eventually gets sand . What’s some heavy sand that won’t blow around too easy ?

Kalkwasser and dosing in general ?

My main tank is a 60 breeder lps and softies. Needless to say I don’t worry about parameters in that tank to much . If I commit to sps in the evo drop off I know I’ll need to dose eventually. Would something like all for reef paired with kalkwasser be sufficient enough?

Flow challenges in drop offs ?

I have two wave makers I’m gonna use in this tank the stronger one will go on the back wall and the weaker one will go on the back wall of the lower area of the tank .

Been wanting an eshoppes Mariana but couldn’t swallow spending 250+ on a tank that wasn’t even 10 gallons so of course i made my own drop off for a fraction of the price and more water volume. Unfortunately I sacrificed the professional clean looking part of things because it pretty bad with silicone but once sand corals and rock go in it’ll barely be noticeable leak test in a few days fingers crossed 🤞🏾

Budget 60 breeder build I’m stoked to get running!

Got two ac 70s to run on my 60 breeder unfortunately they don’t sit properly how they are supposed too getting hung up on the interior lip and it’s a tight squeeze even fitting over the main portion of the trim aswell. I’m thinking if I cut the interior lip off under the filters and maybe shave some of the trim it can still function safely

I feel like it came out meh , he paid 100$ for plants and I picked them . I picked multiples of a few species and wish I did more variety instead, I wasn’t expecting portions to be as good as they were. What would you change , add or take away ?

Just got a 60 breeder looking for inspiration, plan on making it a all in one peninsula style

I bought a baby male betta a couple weeks ago just curious how long it takes for them to color up and any tips that may help speed up the process or get a better final result? Ik it’s a shot in the dark as far as what colors will come since there is no known lineage . Right now he has red lips and I’m starting to see some red and darker color scales pop up as well as some very minute iridescence on his fins hoping he grows into a pretty koi lol .

I’ve been in the process of setting up a tank for my office and both candidates are completed now . The first tank is a 3.4 gallon aio with a betta. I built a small pedastel with a cubby for storage and a back wall to grow pothos and monstera up and out of the tank. I think it looks nice , waiting on some plant clips to come in the mail so I can fix the pothos and what not to the back wall. The scape is simple a piece a drift wood and some round stones as far as plants go it’s an epiphyte dominated tank with Java fern anubias & buce. Equipment wise I’m just running the fzone nano light a heater and sicce pump. The second tank is a 2.5 gallon with my wennerae mantis shrimp . I had a pair that shared a 10 gallon prior to this setup but rehomed the male and kept the female since she was smaller and a bit more outgoing. Plan on making it a macro algae tank with a lot of caleurpa . I built a little stand for the 2.5 just for the heck of it . Going super minimal with the salt water tank just a wave maker a heater and a nicrew light no filter.

Which one would you take to the office lol ? Both have their own uniqueness to them so I’m undecided maintenance wise it’s practically the same a large water change once a week frozen on occasion and good meaty pellets Is all I’d need at work for either setup but I can’t decide lol leaning more towards the betta tank but it’s hard to pass up having a mini salt water tank at work .

Gave up on trying to make this yee tank i found on Temu a pico and went back to my roots with a good ole fashioned planted betta tank . I made a little pedestal for it and added a make shift trellis of some sort to give pothos room to climb up and adhere to it , my salt water tank looks good but this little tank has a big smile on my face lol was supposed to be my office tank but might not make it out of the house now lol added a ai picture to get a better feel of the true final product
