URGENT question about course extensions - pls help

Hey yall, long story short, my current courses started Feb 1, 2026. I purchased a course extension in April to extend these courses until July 31, 2026. This was due to my physical health getting very bad. Flash forward to today, recently my health has been getting progressively worse, and I am having difficulties completing my course work quickly and efficiently. I have excellent in-progress grades, it’s just taking me longer than usual.

I desperately want another course extension for these three courses, and I am confident I can have them complete within this second extension timeline. The problem is, the deadline for requesting a course extension is 30 days before the end of the course, which would have been July 1… it’s July 3 (almost 4) as I am typing this. I missed the deadline due to— you guessed it— major health stuff. I just sent an email to AU practically BEGGING for an exception but I don’t know what to expect, especially since today is Friday and they likely won’t even see the email until Monday.

My question to yall is: have you ever gotten an exception to a rule/policy at AU like this? Missed a deadline or something but were able to provide proof of extenuating circumstances and had it approved anyways? Please give me hope, but also tell me the truth.

The stress about this is certainly not helping my physical health or my ability to concentrate on my course work. 😫😫

Thanks guys

Searching everywhere for audiobook for school - HELP!

Hey book besties! I’m in an indigenous literature of Canadian university course which includes Green Grass, Running Water by Thomas King*.

I have the paperback, and can get the ebook from my library, however I am desperate for the audiobook as I’ve been having troubles focusing recently and want to see if I can listen while I walk outside or cook, etc. I can’t find a way to access this book (in Canada) absolutely anywhere! Tried all the library ways (Libby, hoopla, CloudLibrary), Spotify audiobooks, audible, Libro.fm, everand, Apple Books, and even tried YouTube in case it was an open access title because of age or something. I know the audiobook exists (99% sure) but it’s like it has totally disappeared off the face of the earth.
Apologies if this is an ignorant question and there’s a well-known reason for this lack of availability! Anyone have any tips? Thanks guys!

*the controversy surrounding him is addressed in the course, the book is being changed for future versions of the course, and we are aware of the nuances of this book given King’s real background)

Convocation make-up from last October— tickets???

EDIT: oh, I see someone just asked this question right before me. Sorry! But if anyone is able to snag some more tickets please let me know!

Hey! I graduated from my library technician program last year and was set on attending October convocation, but alas the strike canceled it :( for anyone in the same boat and attending the make-up date this Thursday June 4, were you able to request more than 2 tickets for guests to attend? It said online that we can request more if available starting today at 11am but I haven’t had the option unfortunately. Anyone else have this issue? Thanks and congrats to any grads! 😄

durham book clubs reading genre fiction (not just lit fic)?

Hey durham friends! Does anyone know of a book club, either virtual or in-person, that reads genre fiction instead of only lit fic? Dont get me wrong, nothing wrong with lit fic, but I'm looking to connect with people and get recs for other genres (fantasy, romance, hist. fic, sci-fi, etc). All I can find online are usually either only thrillers, or only lit fic, even public library book clubs (+ community run ones) seem to only read lit fic.

For context I am 22F... I am open to any age of book clubs but I would also really love to meet some readers somewhat close to their 20s or so? But Im not picky as I would just really love to connect over books with people close by. I have bookstagram and booktok which makes connecting with readers super easy, but most are not close in proximity which kinda sucks. Also bonus points for diverse book pics (BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, etc.) and a judgement-free community. :)

Thanks friends!

TLDR: local book clubs reading anything other than lit fic?

PC decadent cheesecakes erased from existence??? (Canada)

Attaching a photo… I distinctly remember buying individual chocolate cheesecake desserts, came in a two-pack, that came in little glass ramekins/dishes. I remember well because I had a bit of an obsession and ended up with SOOOO many of these dishes and my mom ended up making candles in them. i remember finding so many at local value villages too. I tried searching for them tonight, and because I am stubborn I spent LITERALLY HOURS searching for them as they appear to have vanished from reality. I finally figured out what they were called (“PC The Decadent Chocolate Cheesecake Dessert”) and found one singular image online of the box, from Edmonton grocers. For context I’m in Ontario and always bought them from my local Loblaws. They began as just seasonal for the holidays but I remember they started selling them year-round and I was the happiest I’ve ever been haha. I’ve tried google-lens image searching for them, and I only get the exact same ONE photo and no other evidence that they ever existed?? I’ve searched endless word combinations and I only get recipes or different products. I even tried searching lists of discontinued PC products and nothing!! Please tell me someone else remembers these… there’s absolutely no way I dreamed these… I had dozens of the glass dishes for goodness sakes!!! Is this a Mandela effect? Am I losing it?? 😰 help a gal get her grubby paws on some cheesecakes!!

google doc history/activity trackers (Draftback)

Hey! has anyone used a google extension like Draftback or something similar to record detailed history in google docs, in case youre ever accused of ai use or plagiarism? Its a subscription so im unsure if its worth it, but im sooooo paranoid of being accused of this when I absolutely have not, especially with profs nowadays running essays through "ai checkers" that aways come back with bull-crap percentages that are totally inaccurate. Is something like this worth it in your opinion? Thanks! :)
