The Ark is Cringe but I Love It

The plot is awful and the acting is bad, but I can’t stop watching it. It reminds me of the cheesy late night sci-fi shows I’d watch on the SyFy channel when I was young. Plus, I have a crush on Alicia Nevins.

Anyone using their Husk Wellness benefit with PureGym?

I have access to Husk through my work benefits. How does it work and is it easy to cancel? I’ve read horror stories regarding gym cancellations and ongoing charges.

Anyone been to the new Love and Honey fried chicken joint in Brooklyn?

I keep seeing their ads on social media and wonder if it’s any good. They were started by a couple from Philly. I might check it out this weekend.

I have really bad ADHD and hate studying, but I passed today! AT/AT/AT

First off, I just wanted to thank all the contributors of the sub for all the info and help in passing this exam!

Background: I have several years experience working in IT: tech support, dept coordinator, systems administration, etc. I have no formal project management experience or PM titles. I am also a certified ScrumMaster.

I didn’t realize a lot of what I had already been doing at work over the years and learned on my own through experience was actually the PMI mindset. My management style had always been one of servant leadership because I always tried to see myself as a coach or facilitator for whatever “team” I was working with. So, going over the PMI PMP study materials validated a lot of what I already knew and was currently doing at work.

Truly understanding the PMI PMP mindset is the most important thing to know when taking the exam. Memorizing terms, formulas, or the correct answers to questions doesn’t help if you dont understand the PMI mindset reason behind them.

I have really bad ADHD and struggled to get through the 35 hour Udemy Andrew Ramdayal PMP course, because I found the material boring and dry. I paid for the PMI Study Hall Essentials hoping it would help me, but I had a hard time sitting down and focusing. I bought the 3rd Rock Notes and although they looked nice and seemed super helpful, I barely looked at em. I did watch all the frequently recommend YouTube videos specifically the mindset videos from Andrew Ramdayal and Mohammed Rahman. I constantly had them playing in the background while I cleaned the house or played video games. Sometimes I would play AR’s Q&A videos and pause them to answer on my own and then play them to see if I was right or try to understand why I answered it wrong. Basically, that’s all I did to prepare.

I have really bad test taking anxiety and yesterday I tried to relax and not think about the exam. I watched Andrew Ramdayal’s video on what to do the day before the exam and followed it and made sure I went to bed well rested but ended up watching Game 3 of the NBA Finals. I did spend the month prior training myself to wake up at 6AM and getting myself ready to take the exam at 8AM.

This morning I woke up at 5:30AM and started the day as I normally would to minimize my anxiety. I don’t normally eat breakfast as I do intermittent fasting until noon and just drank a cup of water. I arrived at the Pearson testing center an hour before my exam just to make sure I wasn’t stressed from trying to rush. I didn’t bring anything with me other than my phone and ID. I dressed in a casual polo and pants so I could feel comfortable but noticed other test takers dressed in sweatpants and hoodies.

As for taking the exam: I thought it went better than I was expecting. I usually have problems sitting still and get distracted easily, but Pearson provided noise blocking earmuffs which I used and found super helpful. I took the first 10 minute break to use the bathroom and sip some water but skipped the second 10 minute break because I could feel my ADHD kicking in and feeling antsy so wanted to get the exam over with ASAP or I’d start making stupid mistakes just to get out of there.

The questions felt straight forward and I quickly figured out what the problem was asking and tried to narrow down the answers to two options. Then I tried to pick the one which aligned most to the PMI mindset. I didn’t have any matching questions but had some calculation and formula questions which I guessed because I didn’t bother to memorize any formulas. I did have 3 choose the best 3 answers questions which were easy because I knew the mindset it was looking for.

I finished with 30 mins left but used the remaining time to review questions from the beginning of the section, because I felt like my ADHD brain made dumb mistakes from being impatient. I’m glad I spent the extra time to review the first few questions because I changed several of the answers after re reading the questions and running the answers through the PMI mindset. I ended up with 5 mins remaining which I used to answer the survey at the very end.

I honestly expected to fail and thought I would use the experience to better prepare myself for the next time I sat for the exam, so I was surprised to see I passed with all ATs.
