Holiday fishing near Ynyslas/Borth
Hi all,
I’m staying for a week in July near Ynyslas/Borth, close to the Dyfi estuary (near Searivers Caravan Park).
I used to do a bit of coarse fishing years ago (float fishing for silvers, odd carp etc.) but I’m completely new to sea fishing and looking to have a few relaxed sessions while on holiday rather than taking it mega seriously.
I’ve recently bought a Rigged & Ready X Max travel rod (the multi-tip one — spinning, float, feeder etc.) and wondered if it’ll be suitable for the area.
A few questions:
Is the Dyfi estuary / Ynyslas / Borth area decent in July for casual fishing?
Are there any easy access spots (harbour, estuary bank, beach, rock marks) you’d recommend? I’m not really looking to scramble over dangerous rocks!
What species would I realistically target in July?
For a beginner with my setup, would you recommend:
spinning/lures for bass?
float fishing?
simple ledgering with bait?
Best bait/lures for that area?
Any tide advice for a complete estuary novice?
I’m very much in the “few peaceful evening sessions and hopefully catch something” camp rather than hardcore angling.
Cheers!
Just your average day on the NC500
I hear these are vital for the local economy, gotta keep the RNLI on its toes.
(Yes I know the Skye ferry isn’t on the official route but it’s highly encouraged)
