Flooded my bike - tips to get her going again :)

As hilarious as this fail was - myself and the bike went completely under for a few seconds lol this photo was taken after I wrestled it half way out

I got the spark plug out and kicked all the water out of the hole. I know these old jap 250s basically run on piss and vinegar but I’d rather do all I can to not mess it up.

So far I’ve drained the oil , got all the water out, cleaned out the air box and replaced filter, drained the gas tank and will refill.

Next step is put new spark in and put the gas tank back on. My buddy recommended considering flushing the engine with diesel due to the mud and shit in that water.

Any other versys lovers?

Really loving this bike! Picked up a 2015 LT about 6 months ago. I sold my mighty 2008 klr and with another $700 got this girl.

I loved the KLR dearly but I ride two up with my wife a lot, I / we have put just over 10,200 miles on it since January 31.

The klr I was a huge fan of but having this extra cylinder is just a lot smoother, and the seating set up is comfier for her which was important for me.

I love the ADV style look and was wondering have any of you made some mods to make it more adventurish? I did add some engine guards recently and am considering some shinko 705s next month.

I don’t plan on taking her on any gnarly trails I have my 2004 klr 250 for that 🤠

However I have taken her on some fun dirt and gravel roads and she’s a blast! I think some Shinko 705s or similar 80/20 road off-road tire would give it a more aggressive look and be more confidence inspiring on forest roads / hard packed dirt.

Besides ADV upgrades how do you like the bike? What have you done to it?

Goodbye klr650 hello versys + klr 250

It’s funny - I already miss the klr650! My first big bike was a ‘98 KLR650 while living in Guatemala - before that I had a Lifan 200cc Chinese dirt bike I rode all around Belize.

I moved back to the USA late last year and bought the farkled up 08, I and my wife and I put a little over 8500 miles on her in under 4 months. As much as I loved it we do a lot of road trips and it was perfectly fine on the trips but the versys 650 (2015) I bought it just likes better in terms of comfort for her and passing power.

I’m quite certain if I wasn’t in Florida I would’ve just kept the 650 klr for my one bike solution but boy the sugar sand on the klr isn’t a fun time.

So now for the roadtrips the versys 650 takes care of us very well. I want to slap some shinko 705s on it and a few ADV accessories simply because I like the look and I have ripped it down forest roads with no issue. The ‘04 klr 250 is a dream in the Florida sand and it’ll go 60 with me without fussing.

My 09

Love this thing.
Looking back I would’ve enjoyed the bigger engine better but the 2.7 is fine! I gave it an off-road look, it definitely wouldn’t do well in deep sand but it goes down forest roads for camping without a hiccup. Tows my little boat fine and is a great kayak mover

85k now bought at 67k just did the timing belt and water pump. Zero issues besides the purge valve I fixed.

Hoping to get 150+!

Things I wish I knew when I started full time online coaching 6 years ago

Things I wish I knew when I first started trying to go online. ⬇️

I’ve been fully online now for 6 years or so. I’ve been able to travel full time for several years and maintain a busy roster, I do not do paid ads, all my clients come from organic marketing. Here’s some tips / things I wish I knew when I first began online (after 6 years of in person)

  1. Shirtless photos and lifting heavy isn’t going to bring you long term, real business.

  2. Accountability is far more valuable than a fancy program (AI can make amazing programs, probably better than you - especially if prompted correctly)

  3. Establish boundaries from the start. I let clients know that I do not reply to messages or check ins after 2pm on Friday - Sunday. I’m available essentially Monday - Thursday 9am - 6 pm and Friday in the morning. Nobody expects weekend replies or super quick replies.

4.Start small, meet the client where they are. Nothing will get clients to quit faster than trying to throw up a 5-6 day advanced workout program at them. The vast majority of my clients besides a handful who are really pushing powerlifting or athletics are doing 2-4 workouts per week that takes them 25-45 minutes per session. Starting small and building from there is way better than killing a client and discouraging them

5.Check ins are vital: I don’t message everybody daily but every Monday I teach out to everybody individually on the apps messaging usually through audio message or the occasional loom video. Thursday I’m reaching out again. The main things I’m touching on are adherence , communication, and how they’re feeling.

Cruising

Started adventure riding in Guatemala on a ‘98 klr. After 5 years living abroad I moved back to Florida and picked up a fully farkled 08 klr I honestly loved it! However I do a ton of trips two up, the klr was honestly just fine! But even with some upgrades after 3 hours or so the wife was beat in the back so now I run a 2015 versys 650 for our road trips ( though I have taken it on fire roads just fine, would be even better with a little more appropriate tires) and have an 04 klr 250 for my dirt and sand trips!

Zipppppin around Florida!

Loving my klr 250. $1300 and never lets me down. Finally time to put a new chain on her. Feels like a bicycle in the sand compared to my old klr 650 I had and absolutely will go 65 with no issues with my 200 lb ass on it.
