Anyone from TU Darmstadt? Share your application timeline

Hi everyone,

Has anyone's application status changed from "Antrag im Fachbereich" to the next stage? If so, how long did it take for your status to change?

It would be really helpful if you could also share your application timeline. Thanks!

Urgent: Non-EU applicant for BTU Cottbus M.Sc. Cyber Security – Should I withdraw my uni-assist application?

Hi everyone,

I'm a non-EU applicant from India for the M.Sc. Cyber Security (Winter 2026/27) at BTU Cottbus.

I applied through uni-assist on 9 June, and my application is currently "In Evaluation."

Later, I found that the official BTU website mentions 15 May as the deadline for applicants with a foreign degree who are non-EU/EEA citizens, while EU/EEA applicants have a later deadline.

I have two questions:

  1. Can anyone confirm from their own experience whether 15 May is indeed the official deadline for non-EU applicants for the M.Sc. Cyber Security programme?

  2. If the deadline was 15 May, why did uni-assist allow me to submit my application on 9 June and put it into "In Evaluation"? Has anyone experienced this before? Should I withdraw my application now to preserve my uni-assist application fee, or is there still a chance BTU will consider my application?

I'm looking for replies only from people who have applied to this programme or have been in a similar situation. This is quite urgent because I need to decide whether to withdraw my application before the status changes.

Thank you!

🚨 Urgent: Should I withdraw my BTU Cottbus application now to get a uni-assist refund? Need advice from applicants

Hi everyone,

I'm a non-EU applicant (India) for the M.Sc. Cyber Security program at BTU Cottbus.

My application is still "in evaluation" on uni-assist. I recently found out that the deadline for non-EU applicants may have been 15 May, but I was able to submit my application after that, and uni-assist accepted it and is still evaluating it.

Should I withdraw my application now so I can get the application fee refunded to my uni-assist wallet before the status changes? Or does the fact that uni-assist accepted it mean my application is still valid?

I'm looking for replies only from people who have experienced this situation or know how uni-assist handles it. This is urgent because I need to decide before the status changes from "in evaluation."

Thanks in advance!

BTU Cottbus Applicants: How Long Did You Actually Wait for a Decision?

Hi everyone,

I would like to hear from students who have actually applied to BTU Cottbus and received a decision on their application.

Could you please share:

- Which program you applied for

- When you submitted your application

- Whether you applied through Uni-Assist or directly

- How long it took to receive a response (admission, rejection, or any status update)

I'm specifically looking for real applicant experiences and timelines. Please avoid sharing only the official processing times mentioned by BTU Cottbus or Uni-Assist, as I have already seen those.

At the end, it would be very helpful if you could mention your application year as well.

For context, I applied for the M.Sc. Cyber Security program through Uni-Assist.

Thank you!

Is it worth applying for a uni-assist VPD with only 4.5 weeks left

Hi everyone,

I'm planning to apply to a German university that requires a VPD from uni-assist.

The application deadline is in about 4.5 weeks, but uni-assist currently mentions a processing time of around 4–6 weeks for VPD evaluation.

I'm trying to decide whether it's still worth paying and applying for the VPD now, or if there's a significant risk that it won't be issued before the university deadline.

Has anyone recently received a VPD from uni-assist? How long did it actually take in your case?

Would you still apply if you were in my situation with only 4.5 weeks remaining?

Thanks for any recent experiences or advice.

Overall Band 7.0 with 1 Week of Preparation – Exam Pressure Matters More Than You Think, My Experience and Advice for Anxious Test Takers. Read below

Overall Band 7.0 with 1 Week of Serious Preparation – My Experience and Advice for Anxious Test Takers

My scores:

Listening: 8.0

Reading: 6.5

Writing: 6.0

Speaking: 6.5

Overall: 7.0

I wanted to share my experience because reading posts on this subreddit helped me a lot before my exam.

I achieved an overall band of 7.0 with about one week of focused preparation. Before that week, I was only somewhat in touch with Listening and Reading through occasional practice. Once I became confident that I could consistently score above 30/40 in those sections, I booked my IELTS test.

After booking the exam, I started preparing seriously for Writing and Speaking while continuing to practice Listening and Reading.

To be honest, I was expecting a slightly higher score. Looking back, I feel that the pressure and exam environment affected my performance. During practice at home, I felt more comfortable and performed better. I genuinely think that staying calmer in the test room could have pushed my score up by around 0.5 band in each module.

My biggest advice for future test takers is:

Do not underestimate the importance of staying calm.

Many people focus only on vocabulary, grammar, and practice tests, but your mental state on exam day matters a lot. Anxiety can make you miss answers in Listening, overthink in Reading, lose ideas in Writing, and become less fluent in Speaking.

If you're currently waiting for your exam or results, remember that nervousness is normal. Try to stay relaxed, trust your preparation, and don't let the exam room pressure affect your performance.

Feel free to ask me anything about my preparation or test-day experience. Good luck to everyone preparing for IELTS!
