Did our players play at their best.
Was their anything controversial. Like the red card that FIFA rescinded for the USA suddenly.
I mean fuck Belgium right? I really hope they tear them a big one after this.
There was a lot of controversy, but now it's beyond that line with reintrodusing a player who was banned by a red card.
And I do mean that for a lot of our current and newest fans.
I cannot stand aside anymore just taking it week by week without saying anything back here.
I'm a proud and older fan here: nearly 55 years old, (Let me say, it was a very different time back then, less drama for sure).
Please bear with me and look at what I have to say...
Yes Vini and Mbappe are amazing players, And yes there's a "but" at the end of my sentence.
They aren't better than what we used to have and it would be amazing if they ever would reach those heights tbh.
They need to be ready to make their shirt wet, and work hard and show us they really love Madrid and our badge and not fake it.
Unfortunately I'm afraid Vini is going to run out his contract and becuase of that he will most likely not give it 100% in the coming season.
Behind them; we have a decent midfield and we have a decent defense, but not amazing by any standard... We do have the best goalkeeper in the World though.
This only makes it a little harder to get my point across though.
Because A lot of our fanbase do think we have the best players in the World and I'm telling you... No!!!, we haven't anymore.
We have a few great players: but not what we once had, about only three-four years ago.
Let me reintroduce a few of those World class players from not so long ago.
Obviously CR7: the most complete striker ever.
Good in the air with his amazing jumping range, even though he wasnt that tall.
Amazing right foot and on top of that his work rate was very high and he was a team leader andi nspired a lot of other players to play beyond their level at times..
He also had a very decent free kick and an impecable penalty shot.
Yes his score ratio was only over a little more than Mbappe but if you read what I said, he was much more than just a striker with great stats.
For the rest I'm gonna leep it shorter. (Just let the list get through to you).
Cravajal (prime)
Marcelo (prime)
Alaba (yes Alaba but injury free he was a great defender)
Kroos
Modric
Bale
Benzema
Ramos
Let all of those names sink in for a little while, please...
Now tell me again, do you really think we have the best players in the World still?
Or are we just hoping, even wishful thinking we still have them at this point?
Those players I just pointed out won a multitude of Champions Leagues and Titles.
It's of course very hard to replace them, maybe not impossible but we haven't succeeded yet.
For example: After all these years since Bale left us we still haven't replaced him with a good RW.
About Xabi... We really should've kept Xabi Alonso, but as I understand Perez never supported him, he wasn't his signing and he had to go instead of telling the players that nobody would be bigger than the club
Signing.Mourinho isn't going to bring order in this squad, if anything he is going to divide it even more into "his" people and the "others".
Just look how he defended Prestianni without even knowing what really happened at that time.
Do you really think a person like that would bring order back into the dressing room?
I really hope I'm wrong about everything I just said, I don't think so though.
We once had a formidable squad and now we have a shell of a squad that might have a great game or two but don't expect much more and you wouldn't be so disappointed if you didn't.
To end on a positive note though:
TAA as a RB is very good, he is a great replacement for Carvajal.
Huijsen is very young and can improve a lot.
I have high hopes for him, just give him some time.
Carreras is a determined player but he lacks the technique, he can get there though by is work rate and determination.
As a long time Madridista I felt obliged to say my part.
I have long enough kept my peace and watched a lot of shit being said (circumventing the truth) on this Sub.
