Eczema and skin picking

Does anyone else have skin picking disorder and eczema? I have the papular kind of eczema right now and I’ve never had it before. I know that in order for it to heal, I need to not pick, but the tiny bumps are so tempting. Just had a pickfest in my bathroom :(

Is this PD?

I have dealt with regular, scaly eczema but never perioral before. I have a derm appointment in a month and am only using a national eczema association approved gentle cleanser at night, an NEA approved moisturizer in the AM and PM, and tacrolimus 0.1% AM and PM (my doctor just said it was eczema when the bumps weren’t this bad or red. There were fewer and they were skin-colored). I think these red bumps were triggered by a shampoo I tried (I stopped using it immediately after I woke up with this). Should I do zero therapy? Stop tacro?

Would this work on a true winter?

Curious because I thought magenta was cool but I’ve seen bright spring drapes with this color so idk. Also worried it might be too bright.

Hit me with your favorite U.S. public policy books

I’m applying for a policy fellowship with the state legislature and feel unprepared. Any recs for learning about public policy/drafting it, preferably books without overly flowery language? I have a master’s in political science, but know less about public policy. Even if I don’t get the role, I want to learn all that I can. Thanks in advance. (Cross-posted.)

Int’l image institute in-person class?

Hi everyone! I’m thinking of going to the International Image Institute in Toronto for CA training. I’ll have to fly there and it’ll be costly, so I was wondering if anyone could tell me about the experience: what did you like about it, or not? Was it worth it? Do you feel like it prepared you for your career as an analyst? Anything you would’ve done differently while staying there? Thanks so much.

Staying on antidepressants for sleep study

I’m staying on 60 mg of Cymbalta (down from my usual 90 mg) for my PSG/MSLT because I’m very anxious in general, and I’m worried I won’t nap at all, or that I won’t enter REM quickly enough to get the diagnosis I need. Has anyone here stayed on antidepressants or anti anxiety meds during their study, and if so, how did it turn out for you? Did you get the diagnosis? I know it’s different for every person, but thought I should ask anyway.

At-home patch testing question

I’m patch-testing shampoo and conditioner, and I think(?) my eczema spots look the same after having the products left on for 10 minutes (I read that rinse-off products shouldn’t be left on for too long). But when I rinse them off with a non-soap bar that doesn’t irritate me, I notice the eczema patches where I’ve been testing are significantly drier/more noticeable. Idk if this is because I’m washing them more frequently or because of the products.

I’ve been doing this for 4 days, twice daily, and my eczema is getting worse. If there’s no immediate reaction to the product, but my eczema is getting worse overall, should I forget about these products? Thanks in advance.

Cruelty-free shampoos frustration

I wish there were more truly cruelty-free shampoos/hair products approved by the NEA! I tried SEEN, but it dried my hair out. I’m patch-testing the Honest company, but it seems to be failing/making my eczema worse. I feel like it’s going to take trying a bunch of non-NEA-approved shampoos and tons of at-home patch testing (I haven’t done actual patch testing yet) to find one that works for me and is leaping bunny or at least PETA approved. I know the NEA isn’t the be-all and end-all, but it’s a starting point. For the people who only buy cruelty-free, what do you do?

Patch testing question

So I have eczema on my face, underarms, and wrists, but I never get it anywhere else. When I’m checking new products, should I patch test on my wrists (where the eczema is healing), or a part of my body where I don’t get eczema? Will the skin where I don’t get eczema respond the same to products as the skin that does develop eczema? I’m worried I’ll patch test an area that doesn’t react, then move on to my face and make the eczema there worse.

The smell

This might be gross, but thing for me, one thing that makes it hard to quit is the smell of the stuff that comes out of my skin. Specifically the thick white stuff that comes out of acne, not pus. I figure this is common for us skin pickers. It’s so addictive :(

Keeping scented shampoo away from face? CF, irritant-free pyrithione zinc shampoo?

Hi everyone! I’ve had dandruff my whole life, so I have to use some form pyrithione zinc shampoo. Most of them have fragrance or other irritants, so I’m having trouble keeping them from streaming down my face (which is covered in eczema) while I’m in the shower. How do you deal with this? Do you cover your face?

Second, I’m finishing off a bottle of scented head and shoulders, but I’d love to find a cruelty-free, irritant-free, unscented pyrithione zinc shampoo. Does one exist? Thinking of trying happy cappy, but idk my allergens yet and I’m worried I might react to something in it. Thanks!

How often do you reapply sunscreen?

My parents think it’s obsessive that I’m reapplying sunscreen to my melasma spot every 3 hours, but I feel like I need to. I only reapply sunscreen to my entire face about twice a day. How often do you reapply?

Edit: I’m talking about reapplying indoors, fyi!

Barrier cream on top of desonide?

Is it okay to layer barrier repair cream over moisturizer and desonide? My moisturizer doesn’t have ceramides so I’m using the barrier cream as well.

I finally blocked her!

I had this huge unrequited crush on a former fwb and it was really weighing on me. I compulsively checked her Instagram page constantly. She’s the greatest person, and I was lucky to know her, but it wasn’t healthy for me to have access to her page and see what she was up to after we stopped seeing each other. I feel bad that I had to block her, but I doubt that she wanted to stay in contact anyway. This is less of a support thread, more of a “this is your sign to block that person if you know what you’re doing is unhealthy!!” suggestion. Lesbians and limerence, what can you do?!
