Moving to the Vancouver Metro area — trying to put a 4.0+ pickleball crew together

Hi everyone.
I’m relocating from Charlotte to the Vancouver area in the next few days (settling around White Rock / South Surrey), and I’m hoping to connect with other committed players.

A bit about me: I’m a 4.0+ player and pickleball is easily my favorite hobby. Back home I played with a regular group four-plus times a week, and I’d love to build something similar here — people who want consistent, good games. If you’re a 3.5 or above, roughly intermediate to advanced, you’d fit right in. Outdoors when the weather cooperates, indoors when it doesn’t.

If that sounds like you, drop a comment or send me a message. Would be great to get some games going once I’m settled. Thanks!

Where do the 4.0+ players actually play around Surrey/White Rock?

Moving to South Surrey soon and trying to figure out where the competitive open play actually happens. I’m around 4.0 and looking for games that go beyond casual rec play.

I know about the dedicated courts at South Surrey Athletic Park and Centennial Park in White Rock, but every area has that unwritten schedule — certain days/times when the strong players show up, or specific courts that are the “challenge courts.” That’s the intel I’m after.

Where do you go when you want real games? Any regular groups, ladder nights, or PlayTime Scheduler sessions worth knowing about? Indoor spots count too since I know winter’s coming eventually.

Happy to bring balls and a decent third-shot drop. Thanks!

Looking for an auto shipper (broker or carrier) who'll commit to real terms — Tesla Model Y, Charlotte → Seattle

Shipping a 2022 Tesla Model Y from 28269 (Charlotte, NC) to 98296 (Snohomish, WA / north Seattle). Open transport, car runs fine, flexible on dates but targeting early September.

I've already run into the classic quote-low-then-bump-before-pickup routine, so I'm only interested if you can put all of the following in writing before I commit:

  • Price locked — the number you quote is the number I pay. No "the driver needs more money" calls later.
  • Deposit at pickup, not up front — nothing charged until my car is physically on the truck.
  • Full insurance, in writing — carrier cargo coverage stated per vehicle (not just per load), enough to cover a Tesla, plus how a claim actually works.
  • A firm pickup and delivery window you'll stand behind.
  • No chargeback or dispute waivers buried in the terms.
  • Your MC/DOT number up front so I can verify you on FMCSA SAFER.

Pickleball players - How many months can we play outdoors around Vancouver area

Hi all, I’m newly moving to the Metro Vancouver area (somewhere around White Rock / South Surrey) and trying to get a feel for the outdoor pickleball season.
I know it rarely gets truly cold, so I’m guessing rain is the real limiter. For those of you who play regularly:
• Which months are actually reliable for outdoor play?
• When does everyone give up and move indoors?
• Are there pockets that stay drier or more playable than others — does being right on the water in White Rock help at all?
Just trying to plan how much of the year I’ll be outside vs. hunting for indoor court time. Appreciate any local wisdom. Thanks!

H-1B approved in 16 days, H-4 + H-4 EAD still stuck on "Case Transferred" — June 2026 concurrent filing. Will update as things move

Posting my timeline because I couldn't find many recent data points for concurrent filings, and I figure others are in the same boat. **I'll keep this updated as my status changes — please drop your own timeline in the comments so we can build a useful picture for 2026 filers.**

**Background:** I'm currently on H-1B and doing a change of status to H-4. My spouse's employer filed her H-1B (I-129, premium processing) together with my I-539 (H-4 COS) and I-765 (H-4 EAD, category c26) in the same package. She has an approved I-140.

**Timeline so far:**

- **June 22, 2026** — USCIS receives the full package (I-129 premium + I-539 + I-765)

- **June 22, 2026** — I-765 status immediately shows "Case Transferred And New Office Has Jurisdiction" (SRC receipt number, so Texas)

- **July 3, 2026** — Biometrics appointment notice issued for me

- **July 8, 2026** — Spouse's H-1B **approved** (16 days from receipt)

- **July 20, 2026** — Biometrics completed at Charlotte ASC (photo only, no fingerprints)

- **July 29, 2026** — Both I-539 and I-765 still showing "Case Transferred And New Office Has Jurisdiction." No status change since biometrics. Also never received a separate mailed receipt notice for the I-539 (only the I-765 one).

**What I'm trying to figure out:**

  1. For those who had biometrics actually required on an I-539, how long after completing biometrics did you see your next status update? Did the status sit frozen the whole time, or did it move through intermediate stages?

  2. Anyone else filed concurrently in 2026 where the H-1B got approved alone and the dependent applications did NOT ride along? What ended up being your total time from receipt to EAD approval?

  3. Does the "Case Transferred" status showing up on day one (same day as receipt) mean anything different from a transfer that happens mid-adjudication?

  4. Anyone had any luck with e-requests or expedites on a c26 EAD this year, or is it as futile as it looks from older threads?

I know premium isn't available for c26 and that the Edakunni settlement expired in Jan 2025, so I'm not expecting miracles — mostly trying to set realistic expectations and avoid making travel/job plans around a date that isn't real.

**Will update this post at every status change.** If you're in a similar spot, please post your receipt date, service center, whether biometrics were required, and where you are now. Thanks.

Pickleball around White Rock / South Surrey — looking for groups and players

Hey all, I'm moving to the White Rock / South Surrey area soon and pickleball is pretty much my main hobby. I play regularly and I'm around a 4.0.

A few things I'm hoping locals can help with:

- Are there any groups, ladders, or regular crews worth joining?

- Which indoor facilities would you recommend for advanced play?

- Do people actually keep playing outdoors through the winter here, or does everything move inside?

- Any outdoor courts with lights that are worth knowing about?

Happy to drive a bit for good games. And if anyone wants to hit once I'm settled, happy to connect.

Thanks!
